This episode is where the "Seriously?" thread has ended up. I posted a section from the US Code that reads in part:
No person shall display the flag of the United Nations or any other national or international flag equal, above, or in a position of superior prominence or honor to, or in place of, the flag of the United States at any place within the United States or any Territory or possession thereof:
So yeah, I have a real problem with it flying side by side, instead of or on the same standard as the U.S. Flag.
What the flag code is saying is that no flag of any country shall be flown in a position of prominience or honor or in place of Old Glory. If there are more than one flag pole and they are of equal height and in a straight line the position of prominence or honor is to the viewers left. If there are 3 flag poles of different height the tallest one should go in the middle and that is the position of prominence or honor.

Not that flags cannot be flown at the same height. As long as Old Glory is flown in the position of prominence or honor other flags can be flown at the same height.

The flag, when carried in a procession with another flag or flags, should be either on the marching right; that is, the flag's own right, or, if there is a line of other flags, in front of the center of that line...
g.When flags of two or more nations are displayed, they are to be flown from separate staffs of the same height. The flags should be of approximately equal size. International usage forbids the display of the flag of one nation above that of another nation in time of peace.

Re-read the underlined portion of what I posted, it clearly says "equal" to. There are times, like at the U.N. HQ and international symposiums where in flags from two or more countries might be displayed, in those scenarios sub-section "g" is relevant as this is peacetime. But when you hang a Mexican flag in the hallway of an American school in place of the American flag you have violated sub section "c" of this Title with it being "...or in place of...". Also Title 4 governs the official uses of the flag and national seal where as Title 10 governs "our" (meaning the general public) use.
To get back on topic, this kid saw a Mexican flag hanging in a place of prominence (the main hallway) with no American flag to be seen. So this flag was placed with permission of the Klein ISD "in place of" the American flag and getting no response from the administration he took it upon himself to remove it. Period.

This flag was displayed off of a balcony above the cafeteria for cinco de mayo. Where to school hangs all of its posters for events. The kid really had no right to tear down the flag other than he just wanted to be a punk. I was furious when I heard that the school I graduated from Klein Collins had put the Mexican flag over the American...but that never really happened. The flag was someone's personal property displayed only on cinco de mayo for the spanish club in the cafeteria off the hallway balcony. They hang other flags there too for other events like when German club has an event, ect. Has nothing to do with flag laws, just a child being a child...

My point was that I would have preferred to see both flags hanging off the balcony. Not just the one.

I wonder if there was normally an American flag in the same place in the hallway? I suspect not. And if that is the case then the Mexican flag was not even being displayed instead of the American Flag.
The incident in California disgusts me, but if this flag was merely displayed in side the school on a wall and not actually in place of an American flag then I don't really see a problem and the boy shouldn't have removed it. As much as he disliked it being displayed at all his own flag was still in its proper place of honor.

As I have said in other forums, their evil plan certainly did its job...
Not much you can do about it, because the knee-jerk reaction/solution would be to fly no flags at all...And you know the very people that condone and defend this act are the ones calling the shots, and they will decree no flags or any semblance of the American flag shall be flown on their campus...
Thats what I would do if I were them...
Just my opinion...
Now, that doesn't mean I would not challenge their solution...
