Santa Fe is a small town in southwest Galveston County. State highway 6 is a wide, flat, rural road with about a 60 MPH speed limit (it varies for reasons known only to TXDOT).
Just to set the scene.
The driver of a Kia sedan reportedly made a left turn across SR 6 around 4:40 p.m. The Kia was struck by an Acura heading in the opposite direction. Reportedly, "A passenger in the back seat of the Kia was ejected from the car and slid under a parked Ford F-250 on the side of the road, ..."
The driver of the Kia continued without stopping. An off-duty police officer followed the Kia until it came to a stop at a residence.
Two people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. No charges had been filed at press time.

BTW, although I'm usually in the position of defending newspapers and reporters, it always annoys me when they say that a vehicle did something. Obviously the driver was in charge, unless the vehicle developed a mind of its own (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang? My Mother the Car?).
