Info On DD214: Refund

Post by texjames »

When i got my CHL back i did not know when i payed the $140 online with credit card that with my DD214 i could get 1/2 off.I found out when i took
my CHL class. So when i sent in my package i put in a copy of my DD214 with the Honorable Discharge indorsement with a note...
basically telling them what i said above and if they could credit me i would really appreciate it. Well i got my credit card statement
today and they credited me $70 so i guess it pays off to ask huh? I will have to let the CHL instructor know as he did not know if they would do it. :txflag:

I am with the Texas State Guard and paid my $70.00 fee. Since I am currently in the military it is free for me, so about 4 weeks after receiving my chl, i received a refund check from the state. very pleasant surprise.

Good to know. When I called TDPS I was told "tough luck" but that was just after the law went into affect and after I had done the app. online. It is good to know they have it so they can do refunds now if someone misses the info. Didn't really bother me much since I expected to pay the full fee but it would have been nice to get a refund.

hey......
I just found my dd214 the other day while looking for my mortgage papers to check the insurance requirements.....
Now I'm over 65 too....do you think that they'd refund half of the half that I had to pay for my license????
