Added something new to the safe today!

Post by Bonc_CHL »

Got my new AK47 this week, I am chomping at the bit to go put some lead down range with her. For the price I am pretty impressed with how it looks, the furniture is lacking, looks like they just took it to a sander but I was wanting to re-stain the wood myself so no big deal. I will give a range report as soon as I can! Till then here are a few pics!

Nice looking AK! How is the length of pull? Many AKs I've shouldered at gun shows or shops seem to have a stock length similar to a "bantam" or "youth" length stock on a shotgun. Puts my face up resting on the steel of the receiver.

I'd like to get one like that if the stock is long enough. $379 is a great price. Is that delivered + FFL transfer fee? Or was that additional?

If you want a forum "buddy" to go to the range with you when you take your AK, message me ... I'll go

Sweet, looks nice. I almost got the one from AIM but was planning on switching out the furniture.

Austinrealtor, check out the Romanian Wasr10 Polymer version that Classicarms is offering. It has a longer stock than normal to fit the typical american length of pull. I really like it and it feels just about the same as my AR preferred length. It's only $349 and I paid another $17 for shipping.

Yeah I was looking at that ClassicArms version you got with black stocks. Might be my best bet. Still I just LOVE the look of a classic AK with wood furniture. I wouldn't change a thing - no add ons, just put a $5 fabric sling on it and fill your nap sack with banana mags full of steel-case surplus ammo.

I gotta get an AK. What a heckuva fun plinkin' gun. And not a bad self-defense weapon for extreme situations either.

It was $379 plus $25 FFL and $18 Shipping.... so right around $425, came with 2 mags, sling, bayonet, small cleaning kit, cheap plastic oil bottle, and a mag pouch. All of which look pretty used but it kinda adds to the nostalgic aspect.
While I was at the FFL a guy saw mine and said he had just gotten the AK74 from centerfire, it is the all plastic model, he let me take a look at it and I tell you it looked pretty darn good, I may have to look into one of them also!! Wife is going to kill me if this keeps up!! lol
Also got my C&R in the mail this week, so I am going to have to start looking and see what I can find in that regards!

I will let you know the next time I do hit the range austinrealtor, we for sure need to meet up soon, sorry I could not make the meet up last weekend.

If anyone know some good C&R sites that I might not have seen let me know please, also who gives discounts to C&R.

I think this is the stock kit I am going to put on the new AK http://www.centerfiresystems.com/stkaka04.aspx" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sounds good on range trip.

How does C&R work? I was noticing on AIM that it seems like Makarvos and such can be purchased with a C&R license. Does that work at all like an FFL? Could you purchase a Makarov with your C&R and then sell it to a "normal citizen" like an FFL? Could you sell it to a non-licensed person like any other gun, without FFL type paperwork? Or once purchased with a C&R license does it have stay yours to go through an FFL or something?

Just curious how all that works.

For a gun to qualify as a C&R it has to be 50+ years old or have some significant historical value and be classified buy ATF as such.

With a C&R you are not allowed to engage in business of buying and selling of firearms, but that does not mean that you can not sell the occasional gun, and yes you can sell to an UN-Licensed person.

Maybe if we cant get a range trip together soon maybe meet up for a cup of coffee and talk shop one day!
