Handyman Advice Needed For Gun Safe
Ok, so this morning after work I bought a set of rope lights for my safe.
I got home and went to work routing the lights through the entire safe like I wanted from bottom to top, but now I'm stuck.
I'm to the point to where I need to mount them to the roof of the safe which is lined with a really thin, fine felt.
I thought about hot glue but read that felt absorbs it too much and doesnt deliver desired results.
I also thought about velcro but I'm pretty sure there isnt enough felt for the hooks to grab on to.
This is where your guys come in....
All suggestions apprecited

Needle and thread? Couldn't you just use a needle and thread at intervals to fasten them to the felt?

You could get a roll of the self-stick Velcro and attach some strips of loop where you want the hook to meet up with it...then you're not trying to hook into felt.
Or there may be something you could try with Mighty Putty...?

If it's not lined with sheetrock (I'm guessing it isn't since you could just screw into it), you might be able to use magnets.

Gorilla Glue maybe?

Velcro works well.
Re: Handyman Advice Needed For Gun Safe
Good Velcro .. Would be my first option.. Perhaps more than you think required since the short nap of felt will not give great holding strength.
Or, as you have already mentioned glue, which will damage/ ruin the felt in that spot... How about just removing the felt from the needed attachment points.. With bare metal you can use one of several types of the 3M adhesive non damaging hangers, hooks, tapes.

I've tried that. It doesn't work.
Re: Handyman Advice Needed For Gun Safe
i went cheap to see what would happen and just got some velcro from radio shack, cut it up into many thin slivers and it actually held so I guess Im done. we'll see if it last thought. and yes, i did check just the hook side on the felt and no dice...it didnt even entertain the idea of sticking.Carry-a-Kimber wrote:And the verdict was?
Next im just gonna have to find and install a door jamb switch to make it operate like i want.
