Does TexasCHLforum welcome non NRA members?
I've been active on this forum for a few months as a TX CHL holder. Noticed that the forum is owned by Mr. Cotton, who it appears gives training courses but AFAIK students must be NRA members.
I think the NRA have done great work but am reluctant to join because it seems you get spammed with unrelated marketing materials.
What is the position of this forum vis a vis people who are TX CHL holders but not NRA subscribers?

I don't recall anyone asking if you were until you made an issue out of it.

Mr. Cotton will have to speak for his own opinions on the
question which you have posed.
It is my belief that this forum is open to all people who either
have a Texas CHL, or just choose to visit here to increase their
knowledge of Texas CHL issues.
Another belief of mine is that if you are part of the shooting community,
be it pistols, rifles, or shotguns, it behooves you to become an NRA
member. Yes, they spam a little, but just chuck the ones that don't interest
you in the recycle bucket.
We need the NRA to protect our 2nd Amendment rights. They keep an eagle
eye on pending legislation and are a successful foil against the anti's.

You don't have to be a member of any organization or hold a CHL to be welcome on TexasCHLforum.duns wrote:I've been active on this forum for a few months as a TX CHL holder. Noticed that the forum is owned by Mr. Cotton, who it appears gives training courses but AFAIK students must be NRA members.

Set up an account on the NRA website once you are a member. When you log on, there is the capability to request to be removed from all solicitations. You can also call them and they will add you to the do not mail/call lists.

Re: Does TexasCHLforum welcome non NRA members?
If people realized how important and influencial this particular website is, then there would be no question about its intent or how it recieves ALL viewpoints and commentary (as long as it adhiers to the posting rules) from NRA members and CHL'ers, as well as people looking for answers to questions, and looking for advise on many aspects of the issues our community is involved in...I would say it is only a matter of time before most people who may not have a CHL, or be a member of the NRA or other pro-Second Amendment organization, to obtain the certification, or affiliate with those organizations...And this website probably does a lot to increase those numbers...And it maintains it...
Just imagine how many people we may never know, that have been influenced by the most simple answer to a question, or comment that have never been heard from, or posted anything themselves, that have gone on to be the most devout believers in personal freedom and liberty, and the belief that we do have an unalienable right to keep and bear arms, that would have never done so, if this website never existed...
Even in our most heated disagreements about something, have had to have produced some of the most positive results that I can think of...
There are a few websites that have modeled themselves after this one that handle other states and their issues...I figure that is the highest form of flattery...And one that TexasCHLforum.com should be proud of...
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." --Thomas Jefferson
Someone new to the idea of concealed carry and the right to keep and bear arms is no less a patriot than any other one of us, and (in my opinion) their contribution is as equally valuable, because the tree of liberty is not always watered with blood, and a continuous influx of new people helps keep it just as vibrant as it was many years ago...

I couldn't stop the flow of spam so I added a filter and now I never see any of the ads for Lifelock, Wine, Insurance, ETC.

No chl or NRA membership when I joined. After reading around for a while I'm waiting for both cards in the mail.

As an NRA Endowment Life Member, I can't think of a membership more important. I have professional memberships that I have to maintain, but I renew those only because I must.
I'm an NRA Life Member because I want to be.
Because I believe it's important.
You certainly do not need to be an NRA or TSRA member to participate here.
But someday, when finances allow, please do consider joining both these organizations that fight for all our Second Amendment rights.

An armed society is a polite society. We welcome NRA and non-NRA members. CHL holders and non-CHL holders "=_
I hear that once in a while. Its not as bad as it was. As others have pointed out, once you're a member you can reduce that. Frankly, I get more spam from banks and car warranty scams.I think the NRA have done great work but am reluctant to join because it seems you get spammed with unrelated marketing materials.
