F-250 Tailgate Interchangeable?

I just recently bought a F-250 diesel, 2006 model. I have been driving a F-250 V-10, model 2001.

My question is does anyone know if the tailgates are interchangeable. I am going to put my 2001 up for sale and I have the original tailgate, but I would like to use my 5th wheel tailgate on my 2006.

I am fairly certain 99-07 have the same tailgate. YMMV.

Well the 2001 tailgate will not fit the 2006. The 01 is about an inch too short and will not latch. :(

IIRC the 99-03a tailgate won't fit any other model. The 6.0 models (03b-07 I think) have a taller and more square/flat gate.
