5 Weeks Exactly

Post by d.jeffrey »

My wife and I took the class on the weekend of May 15-16. Mailed both of our packets on May 17. Yesterday, my wife received her CHL in the mail. 5 weeks exactly to the day.

Mine, on the other hand, is a little held up. As a follow up, I posted a topic in this room entitled HELP a couple weeks ago. At that time, on the Texas web site, all aspects were green except two. One was the background check. The other was "passport photo holder-under review" in yellow, and at the top, in red, it said something like "packet incomplete, notification sent". My "HELP" post was an attempt to try and find out if any one else ever had this problem.

Anyway, it turns out the problem wasn't the passport holder at all. They returned the application paper to me. On it, I forgot to fill in one blank- the zip code to an apartment I rented 4 years ago! Unbelievable. You would think that the state of Texas would just look up the address on a computer and fill in the zip code! There was one other problem, which I suppose was in need of resolution. I also didn't fill in what agency in the Dept. of Homeland Security I had worked for 3 years ago.

So I promptly filled in the needed info and mailed it back the next day. I checked the Texas web site late last week and now everything is green! And it says "License-manufacture pending" at the bottom. So, I'm sure I will get it in a week or so.

So for all you that are waiting, it is looking like it is only taking around 5 weeks to get your license.

CAVEAT- My wife and I have never even had so much as a parking ticket. Also, she is active Army and I am a vet, worked for Dept. of Homeland Security, and now work for Dept. of Defense. This may have had a bearing on how fast we got our CHL approved.

My 5 weeks exactly is up tomorrow. So far I have been stuck on backgroud review for several weeks. I am a previous CHL holder with recent passport approval and a spotless record. Kinda getting bumbed on the whole thing. Guess we will see what we will see tomorrow.

Great for you and your wife d.j...

Rvrrat14, all of these posts of licenses, even new ones with really fast times are misleading. It's the luck of the draw and the local background check is also a factor. There are people not getting their licenses/renewals in 60/45. Your "5 weeks" is up? Don't let it bug you but some are taking more than 60 days; what is "5 weeks"? However, good luck!!!
