6-26-10, Lost My Wallet-McKinney

Post by Medic218 »

Well, I messed up royaly this time.
I was at Wal-Mart in McKinney off 75 and 380 getting some stuff while on duty and I lost my wallet.
The time on the recipt was exactly 9:45pm, from there I walk out to the ambulance and off we go to the QT at 5 and El Dorado, thats when I realize I dont have my wallet.
A quick survey of the area at QT and off we went back to Wally World. We prob made it back to Wal-Mart around 10:15pm or so.
Its nowhere to be seen. I retraced my steps inside and outside of the store. I wasnt even sure I had my wallet when I left thinking maybe I left it on the counter in the sporting goods section so I asked a manager if he could look at the security tape and he did...once the sale was over I placed the wallet in my front right pocket he said which sounded right.
He said he even followed me out of the store and said he never saw anything fall from my pockets as i walked out.
So Im left to assume that it fell out as I was climbing in to the ambulance which was parked near the east entrance(non-food side) up against the building. Of course I had to park in a blind spot....they have no view of me getting in the ambulance.
I made multiple trips back to Wal-Mart retracing my steps over and over and over again to no avail.
So no DL, no CHL, no cash I just got out of the ATM prior to going to work, no credit/debit cards, no military ID, no EMS cert and permits required to work and no social security card(i know, i know. Just never took it out after i moved)....Its been 12hrs now and Im still sick to my stomach about the whole ordeal.
Maybe Im paranoid or just hyper-aware but my biggest concearn over all this is that the person who has my wallet will find my CHL tucked in flush behind my DL and think "Jackpot, he's got guns! Lets go rob him!".
Maybe I'm paranoid, maybe I'm not, I dont know. I just know its a possibility, maybe a slim one but it still there and an ever present thought on my mind. But then again I have a tendency to always assume/plan for the worst case scenario.
Oh well, holds have been placed on all of my 3 credit cards and a fraud alert issued with all three credit agencies. I cant do anything about my debit card untill monday...but so far there hasnt been any activity on the card.
I know its a bit of a rant but I just had to get it out. Im mad and sickened all at once.
Best case scenario it gets turned in to Wal-Mart, the police, mailed to me or dropped off at the ER. We'll see I suppose.
Also, FYI...McKinney PD wont take a report on a lost wallet.

Yall have a good one.

I hope you find it soon!

Be careful. Remember it's illegal to carry without your plastic in your possession.

thanks and I'm aware of that lil stipulation, bad thing is I need a CC to order a new CHL....if it ain't one thing it's another. I was hoping for an electronic check option, no such luck.

MedicMan218, I'm sorry for the trouble this has put you through.

As far as the CHL, this is a good example of why I've considered getting a Utah license as a back up.
That way a person can still be able to carry until the Texas CHL is replaced.

Anyway, I hope there's some good samaritan out there that would find your wallet and contact you...I would.

Ok, I got my replacement CHL yesterday. 10 calendar days even with a holiday thrown in the mix.
So for anyone wondering, there is your timeframe for a replacement CHL.

I assume your wallet never showed up. Did anyone try to use the credit cards or was it lost for good?

Man.....that wallet is gone with the wind.
I was hoping someone would just takethe 40-some-odd buck and jut mail everything else back to me.
As for th credit cards they didn't really have a chance. I called and canceled em pretty quick.
So far I got all new cards and acct numbers, a new checking acct and placed a 90-Day fraud alert on my line of credit with the big 3 credit reporting agencies.

Well, short of getting everything back unharmed, it sounds like you have a good final outcome and took the right steps afterward to protect yourself. Sorry about the hassle though. What a pain.
