I have got to move out of this city

I have got to move out of this city
While hiking in a San Antonio city park this evening I stopped and read the park rules. One paragraph mentioned no paint ball guns, spring guns or weapons. No mention of exceptions for CHL. So when I got home I looked up the section.
Sec. 21-14. - Air gun, paint ball gun or spring gun; furnishing to minor.
(a)
It shall be unlawful for any person within the city to sell, or give to, or place in the possession of, any person under the age of sixteen (16) years, any gun which discharges a bullet or missile by means of compressed air, or any gun discharging a bullet or missile by means of a spring.
[So, no Red Ryder for you Ralphie. My parents would have been in jail twice over as I got BB guns twice before the age of 16. Heck, I got a shotgun when I was 12.]
(b)
It shall be unlawful for any person to possess, discharge or bring into a public park any gun, which discharges a bullet, missile or paintball by means of compressed air, gas propellant, or any gun discharging a bullet, missile or paintball by means of a spring. It shall be an affirmative defense to any charge that written permission was provided by the director of parks and recreation for a special event.
[This is the one the park referred to. Except, curiously, there's no mention of "weapons". Wait an minute! Is not a bullet expelled from a firearm by a solid expanding into a gas and propelling the bullet out of the barrel? Gas propellant! That's it, yeah!]
Well, with this and SA's prohibition on lock blade knifes less than 5 1/2 inches, I have just got to find a place in the country real soon and not come into SA except when I absolutely have to. Like for work.

Re: I have got to move out of this city
I'm with you on leaving San Antonio, but for completely different reasons (I have noticed that inane law in the past...I think I may have even created a topic on it, or a post somewhere, I can't remember).
Anyways, crime is out of hand, DUI's are rampant, and a myriad of other things are just starting to grate on me. I just can't stand this city anymore.

Y'all move on up here to Cedar Park. We're just close enough to Austin to watch the weirdos without having to actually live with them or under their laws.
Re: I have got to move out of this city
Denver officials had signs like those posted at the city parks, and the State made them remove them as they conflicted with the state CHP law.

Those city ordinance has no effect to CHLer. State law will trump SA city restrictions.

Why? Because the name is funny as hell to say.

I don't fear guns; I fear voters and politicians that fear guns.

Sounds like they're just trying to keep kids from playing with their Airsoft guns.
I like SA... well parts of SA anyway. Parts like Shertz, and the Palladium IMAX.

Re: I have got to move out of this city
As far as I recall, a city cannot ban a CHL holder from any place that is not on the list of "no-go's" in the CHL law (i.e. professional sporting events, 51% locations, school campuses/events, etc.). State law preempts city law.

I'm quite aware it has no force in law, it's the attitude. No BB gun for anyone under 16, we'll slip "weapons" in and no one will realize it doesn't work, we'll add the knife law and outlaw them all. Hard telling what else I'd find if I go looking.
I just want to get my 10-15 acres (outside Bexar for tax and insurance savings) and do what I want.

(4) regulate the use of firearms in the case of an insurrection, riot, or natural disaster if the municipality finds the regulations necessary to protect public health and safety;
