If you pay him enough, Manual will probably do a good job.

Neither, get a robomow or BamaBot and never worry about your yard again.

Re: Manual Push vs. Self-Propelled
When I had a half acre to mow, I was happy I got the self-propelled. I thought my neighbor's riding mower was overkill but different strokes and all that.

Re: Manual Push vs. Self-Propelled
I also have the HRX217 and love it. I have about 3/4 of an acre that I can take care of in about 45-60 minutes depending on the heat. I also mow another area (no obstructions) periodically that is about 2 acres in about 90 minutes.
However, if I were younger (<30) I might still get a light-weight lower cost push mower.

Re: Manual Push vs. Self-Propelled
Neuton makes a battery powered mower. I have 2. One cuts a bigger patch than the other but they are easy to use and don't make any noise. Made for smaller mowing areas though. I really liked my electric start Lawnboy too. It was self propelled and light but it died and lawnboy went out of business or sold out to someone else. So I got the Neuton(s). Unless you really enjoy sweating, huffing and puffing and getting totally worn out when mowing grass get a self propelled anything over a push mower.

Re: Manual Push vs. Self-Propelled
Well, I pulled the trigger on a Toro with a Honda motor. But it is a manual push mower and not self-propelled. I was going to buy the self propelled, but just decided that I've been using a push mower for over 20 years, and there's no reason to change now. Plus, it is good exercise. Thanks all for the advice.

Kidding.

You're right about it being good exercise though.

I use a self propelled. . . then shower. . . then go to the gym for my exercise.
