Are there new 2009 Shelby's still out there?

Post by Purplehood »

All this talk about cars has got me itchy again. I am thinking about getting a Shelby Mustang but don't really like the newer body style (particularly what they did to the rear light panels). I have been playing around on the internet and only see 2010 and newer at dealerships in the Houston area.
If anyone comes across a new older one, please give me a heads-up.

Are you talking about a Shelby GT500? Or the Mustang GT with Shelby add on package?

The one you see in the Ford showroom floors that run in the high $40-$50k's.

That's probably the GT500 or GT350. The GT500 has a supercharged 5.4L beast of a motor. I doubt you'll find any "new" 2009s as they don't build as many of the Shelby's. I'm not a fan of the 2010+ body style either. I do like the front, but that rear end is ugly. It may be possible to find a slightly used one with low miles.

I would still know that that ugly rear-end is following me up and down the street. /sigh

Purplehood, one of my Mopar club buddies (Superbee) bought a 2009 GT500 a while back. He had to go out of state to find it and this was several months ago. It IS a sweet car.

I remember when we bought my wife's Mustang a few years back that the Ford dealer was able to see inventory from other deale's, maybe it was just regional but I'm sure if you had a good dealer that was genuinely interested in helping you that they could/would do a search of other dealers for you. Ours actually came from a dealer outside of Kansas City.

Keith,

Please lock this down. I am going to take the advice given and go visit the local Ford potentate tonight.

Glad to know I'm not the only one that dislikes the appearance of the newer rear ends. But I tell ya, when I step on the gas of the new 5.0, the appearance of the rear end is the furthest thing from my mind.

:iagree: I say the same thing to those who dislike the looks of the Hayabusa. Roll that throttle on a bit and not only can I not hear them anymore, I also can't see them for long in my mirrors.
