Trip To Disney
We are planning a family trip to Disney in Dec. It will be a road trip so I know that I can Conceal Carry on the road from H'town to Orlando. My question is at Disney. From past experiences I know that they search all carry bags, but not the person. Does anybody know if we can carry in the park? I'm thinking not but I wanted to make sure.
Thanks

Re: Trip To Disney
They don't allow concealed carry, even for vacationing LEO, but I believe that's policy not law. IANAL.
FWIW, they didn't have metal detectors when I was there but they do search bags.

I pocket carried at all 4 Disney parks a few years ago. They'll search bags but not your person. Not illegal, but they'll ask you to leave if carrying.
A few other things consider in FL that are different than TX, but the most significant is what a "Bar" is. They don't have a 51% sign or anything, but I believe the rule is you can't go in a bar or bar area of a restaurant. I also am fairly sure you can't drink at all when carrying. With the demise of Packing.org, it takes a little searching to figure out all the differences, but it's pretty similar to Texas in most respects.

Pink CC handguns are not allowed on Disney World property? How about lavender?

Re: Trip To Disney
I want to carry at disney while I there and want to perfectly understand the rules here. From what I read, they dont "like it", but they dont have anything that would get me in trouble if I carried. Also, they dont pat you down when you walk in, right? I mean, I will be cc'ing my 1911 and dont have a problem with the conceal, unless mickey or goofy pats me down before I walk in.
So, basically, dont ask, dont tell. Is it worst case scenario, they tell you you cant come in with the gun, but if you go back to your hotel room, leave it, and return, you can get in? I am trying to figure out how they realized a person was carrying and asked them to leave if "concealed is concealed"?

We just got back a few weeks ago. They don't search your person, and they don't have metal detectors. Honestly, I can't imagine why anyone would want to carry in the park though. Stash it in the car when you get there, and enjoy your time off with your family. It is a safe place to be.
Re: Trip To Disney
I agree with CHLSteve.
With the exception of the Downtown Disney area (separate form the parks), I have never felt less than absolutely safe at Walt Disney World. I could see carrying--or at least wanting to carry--at Downtown Disney, but not at the parks.
We've been to WDW seven times in the last 5 years, and have our eighth trip booked for early December this year, and I've never brought a gun with me.
The reason Downtown Disney is different as far as making me feel that it might be a place you'd want to be carrying is that Downtown Disney is not access-controlled. There are no ticket booths or turnstiles there. Anyone can come in, including the thugs and thieves. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen, as there are robberies (usually of individuals, not the stores) in the parking lots around Downtown Disney. Another section near Downtown Disney, named Pleasure Island, is almost all bars, so carrying there would be illegal anyway.
If you want to bring your gun anyway, and assuming you are staying on-property (in a Disney hotel), we've stayed at several different Disney hotels and they all have in-room safes where you could store your gun while at the parks.

Re: Trip To Disney
I went to Disney on my honeymoon in late May of this year. I pocket carried while there and had no problems. When you don't have a bag you just walk right in no inspection or anything.
Edit to add: Don't take it on the Pirates of the Caribbean. With all the gunfire and swashbuckling antics you may get scured and decide to return fire!

Re: Trip To Disney
My feeling is never go anywhere you feel you NEED a gun anyway, and I'm not sure I'd knowingly go anywhere that wasn't safe to begin with (especially with my family). The point of carrying IMO is to plan for the very rare event. I don't feel the least bit threatened anywhere I regularly travel around town, but I carry anyway. The only caveat about carrying at Disney or any amusement park is you need to be sensitive to how you carry if you plan on going on any rides with a lot of motion. I pocket carried a Kel Tec 380 the whole time so that wasn't an issue.CHLSteve wrote:We just got back a few weeks ago. They don't search your person, and they don't have metal detectors.
