Too bad they haven't given the name of the vendor that didn't a) check the gun before the gun show b) recheck it as soon as he picked it up to show it to the customer. Sounds like one I'd like to avoid.

Let us not forget the customer himself here. According to the article he was handling the gun when it fired. I am continually shocked, if not in some cases frightened, when at gun shops I see a customer take a gun handed to him by a salesman and fail to immediately point it in a safe direction and satisfy himself that it is unloaded. Often his first action is to point it at the wall and pull the trigger, after sweeping it across several other customers, including myself.

I was so bothered once by the way one obvious newby did this that I intervened and attempted to respectfully give him a little basic advice on gun safety. I must say that the customer showed no evidence of being offended, but the salesman, on the other hand, exhibited his extreme displeasure, as he, of course, KNEW the gun was unloaded. I guess he felt that my intervention was critical of him, and I must admit that it was.

All guns at the shows should be tie-wrapped so that means they have checked the chamer or cylinder.

Is it just me being relatively new to the US, or does it seem to anyone else that most NDs at gunshows are usually dealer-related?

I've been present for four, all dealer related.
