Need quick .45ACP Load Data

Post by JLaw »

Anybody have a good load for .45ACP with 230 grain Hornady HP-XTP bullets with either Hodgdon Universal or Win 231 powder? I need recommended grains of powder and C.O.L. for the finished bullet.

Thanks,

I don't reload 45 but I can list what my Sierra Loading manual says.

Max COAL: 1.275
Recommended COAL: 1.270

Grains: 5.4 5.6 5.7 5.9 6.0 - 6.0 = MAXIMUM LOAD

- Win 231 -
FPS: 700 750 800 850 900
Grains: N/A 4.9 5.3 5.7 N/A - 5.7 = MAXIMUM LOAD

JLaw, I need to give you my number. I have data that I've used with those bullets.

5.3gr Win 231. OAL was 1.230. 5.3 - 5.5 would give good results at this OAL.

Sorry we're done. It went well. He's 95% set up. Just a bit of fine tuning left. That Lee machine is really nice.

That's cool, now that ya'll have done the hard part I can come over and have fun!

So instead of helping out today, I went to Gander Mountain and drooled over some 1911's.
