Help with my Crossbreed Supertuck

Post by 21CG »

My Supertuck just got in today and, in all other aspects, I love it. However, I chose to not get the "combat cut" option. After putting it on today and trying to draw,I quickly realized that not getting it was a mistake. Without it, you are more than likely going to have to re-grip.

So, forum, what is the best process, step-by-steb, to give my holster a "combat cut". I am aware I can mail it back, but wish to avoid the hassle.

Thanks

It's very easy to do yourself. I've done of with a couple of IWB holsters, one being the Supertuck.
Place you gun in the holster and use a pencil to draw a guide line of where you need to cut.
Once you are pleased with that, use a (new) razor blade and CAREFULLY and SLOWLY cut along the line.

Once the cut is done, take some sandpaper, (I used 100 grit) and smooth out the edges to create
a beveled edge. This will keep the newly cut edge from cutting into your skin.

Here's mine...I didn't take a whole lot off but it made a huge difference.
Remember, you can always cut more off later but you can't put it back if you cut too much off. ;-)

TxBassGuide I made the same cut on 3 holsters as USA1 and all work extremely well. Like he said just be sure and not take too much the first time. Also the front clip kept digging into my leg when i sat down as I wear the holsters just in front of 3 o'clock. Fixed this by redrilling screw hole higher up on the clip and then grinding off about 3/4" and ronding it off. Problem solved and still able to tuck with no discernable difference as to concealment. Tuck depth is a little more shallow but actually helps to blouse shirt out to cover gun. Hope you enjoy your new holster as they are very comfortable. Wear mine everyday about 16 hours and do not notice it at all since mods were made.

I did what USA1 did to my own Supertuck about 3 years ago. It's been working fine ever since.

Thanks USA1. After ready your post and pic, I did a cut on mine last night. BIG difference. :thumbs2:

After tracing around the grip, I ended up cutting mine a lot close to what Crossbreed shows on their website. I.e. further down and closer to the Kydex. Winner.

So the idea here is that you tuck your shirt in between the clips and leather? I carry IWB, but I've always carried with my shirttail out. Just trying to figure out how this works from the pic...

Yes. The shirt tucks behind the clips, but over the kydex part (the actual holster). The only thing that shows are the clips.

When I ordered mine, I also ordered the "J hooks". They replace the clips & go over the pants and behind the belt. When tucked, only the little ends of the hooks show to the outside world.
