Have you tried telling her you're on the toilet...then going into detail if she doesn't get the hint?

Or just blocking the number?

Ha ha ha.

She actually tells me the details of her toileting as she carries the phone into the bathroom. I do hang up on her then after saying she can call me back when she's out of the bathroom. :grumble

I have to choose which battles are worth fighting. Caller ID and voicemail gets me out of most of it so I can endure the rest with only a little complaining.

Not counting cell phones and texting/surfing, eating, radio, looking for stuff that dropped in the floor, and makeup or changing clothes, reading is a common sight. Have seen a woman knitting, a man playing trumpet, and even a guy shaving his head with an electric razor. :banghead:
I once saw a guy eating a bowl of cereal while driving down the North Dallas Tollway doing 70 mph. He was seriously holding the bowl with his left hand, a spoon in his right, and steering with his knees (I assume).

I did go a little above the speed limit to get away from his car.

Saw a guy next to me on the Gulf freeway, at speed, reading a book, while driving.

I can usually concentrate on driving when I just talking on the phone (not dialing, etc), but how do you keep you eyes on the road and read a book at the same time!

This commercial made me think of this thread. It's pretty funny and so true.

OK, you've done it, I successfully missed this thread -- then it came up again!

The comment was made earlier about inattention while on the phone: It is absolutely true. You've probably lost focus, I've done it, and it's dangerous. No different than having to argue with a child in the back seat.

Driving requires all of a person's attention. When the radio needs changing, I wait for a moment when I can divert my attention. If I'm on a long trip, I only eat when there's no traffic around, or I can make distance from traffic, and usually slow down.

The idea that there are people who can "multiplex" activities (i.e., simultaneously apply complete focus to more than one thing) is untrue. The brain just isn't wired that way. All people can do is to sequentially focus on different things -- and it's in the instant that someone is focused on other than driving that the worst can occur.

It's demonstrated every day that people drive badly when on the phone. Please don't let me be around when it happens.... :grumble

terryg,

The commercial is spot on, however it left out the "I'm the center of the universe blabber" who in a loud, braying voice can be heard over all other things, oblivious to the rest of the world, most especially heard in public...

Of course, maybe they aren't oblivious and are actually demonstrating their repulsive craving for attention...?

Even disgusted negative attention is still attention.
