I'd like to dispute this claim XD

MD is a 'May Issue' state with no reciprocity, and in reality, that means they don't issue 99.9999999% of the time.

I'd say that MD is as un-safe for CHL as DC.

Just take a look at this bunch of Horse Hockey

http://crime.about.com/od/gunlawsbystat ... aws_md.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There's a 7 day waiting period for handguns, and you can't buy more than 1 every 30 days.
Magazines over 20 rounds are also illegal. :roll:

Well in my defense I did say "somewhat" which is vague, but after further review I would have to agree and say MD (not CHL friendly). I do think possessing a firearm in your vehicle while traveling, one would have a much easier time with the MD police than the DC police.

[quote="ExcaliberIf this isn't a call to action to begin reclaiming those freedoms in November, I can't imagine what one would look like.[/quote]

Unfortunately, "We the people" have allowed our freedoms to be eroded for over 100 years. With regard to reclaiming those freedoms, it is more difficult that it would seem. Remember that the last election was essentially a "vote the bums out" mentality. Regardless of which party gets elected, all we see to do is to switch bums. Evidence? Sure. Let's look at Arlen Specter (we lived in Phila when he was the DA under Democratic Mayor Frank Rizzo.) He went on to be a Republican Senator and then swapped parties before he was defeated in this year's primary. Charlie Crist in FL is another example. Let's remind ourselves about how Al Franken became a US Senator. It cannot imagine what just one person was thinking when they voted for any of these guys, let alone enough to get any of them elected - and re-elected in some cases.

I would love to find a way for us to collectively challenge the D.C. gun laws, just as I would like to do the same in Chicago or NJ. The problem is that as passionate as we might be over any of those, there are even bigger fish to fry. I

I'm very optimistic that we are going to end up with a "divided government" as a result of the November elections. That should slow the bleeding of freedoms at the National level a little. It is going to be up to the good people in D.C. to try to take back their government in a similar manner. I'm not sure that even a PPP type challenge to the D.C. gun laws that went all the way to SCOTUS would help. We saw what happened in Chicago after the the latest SCOTUS decision. Like D.C, the Chicago government has been blantantly corrupt for a very long time. Heck, they've even exported that corruption. :reddevil

Maryland is as bad with the first amendment. If you videotape a public official misbehaving in public and broadcast the video, the state gestapo ransack your home and threaten to put you in jail for 16 years for exercising your freedom of press.

Unfortunately, both sides seem willing to sacrifice some rights- RKBA & due process on one side, privacy, 4th & 5th on the other (terrah terrah terrah), and executives of both parties seem willing to take advantage of it. (Warrantless wiretapping, GPS tracking, etc.)

Sad. Just sad.
