Saturday September 4 is International Bacon Day.

This is truly a special event for those of us who treasure the culinary delight from the belly of pigs.

I am going to fry me up about a half pound in butter and cook my eggs in the bacon fat.

Yummmmm.

Time for some Chicken Fried Bacon with cream gravy or some Pig Candy to celebrate the day!

On second thought, I will admit to liking licorice quite a bit. But that's about it. Anything else I can take or leave. I enjoy the social aspects of going out to eat and my wife and I go to a local place almost every Wednesday evening. Sometimes we it's just the two of us but more than half the time we meet some friends or even a small group. But it isn't about the food (to me). I can't recall that ever being the case. On special occasions (and they don't have to be too special), my wife likes to me to take her to The Melting Pot or any number of places where I can drop $150 or more for a meal for two. I am glad to do it because it makes her happy. Maybe it's because I ate the exact same thing for lunch five days a week for almost five years when I was younger - a can of cold Campbell's vegetable beef soup with a couple of crackers and a soda while driving home after morning classes at UTA.
