Update: ....and on to the garage door

Post by Tass »

Attached the angle iron to the cracked areas, that went well.

The vertical brace had also separated from the panel (noticed the adhesive used was more like the expand-a-foam stuff, the other braces appear to have a JB Weld type adhesive attaching them) causing the door to sag -I think that was my biggest issue, automatic door opener wise- so I cleaned the old stuff off and applied some JB Weld. Had trouble getting it into the narrow space but what did make contact appears to do the trick. I raised the door and it did not sag! :woohoo

I'm going to go back with more JB Weld (gotta get that stuff into a syringe to get a better bead) to fill the gaps and hopefully I'm back to parking in the garage again!

Thanks for all the suggestions! Much appreciated. :tiphat:

Tass,

I've seen where the doors have PPCA (polyeurthrene premium construction adhesive) used on them. You can find this in the paint section of your local DIY store next to caulk. It takes some time to dry (24 hrs), but I've used it in other applications and it has a pretty strong hold. It might be of help besides the JBW...
