Show & Tell for me & Wife

Post by longtooth »

OK, yall go ahead &. Wife & I are having a hard time getting past :banghead: :cryin

2 weeks ago today I had a wreck in my truck. 1st at fault incident since 1968 just after I graduated High School. No one hurt, Thank you Lord. Got a ticket.
Last Sunday wife got a ticket.

Mine.
Topped a little hill w/ a FM rd Ting into our rd. traffic backed up w/ one trying to turn Left. Speed limit 55 & I was doing about 40. Still got a ladies bumper. Her very Right rear w/ my very Left front. I nearly made the ditch. i know, I Know, I KNOW, Nearly dont count cept in horseshoes & hangernades.

Needed to Declare CHL twice. 1st officer on the scene.
I will need your DL & Ins please.
Yes sir, had them out & handed all 3 to him. Jerry Young. I have a Texas CHL & I am armed.
He looked at me nodded.
Little later a 2nd officer stopped & asked if I had DL & Ins or if 1st officer had them.
I ID again. 1st officer has them. I am Jerry Young, I have a Texas CHL & I am armed. He nods too & says nothing.
Receive my ticket & we all go ahead on.
Lady goes to work, mine is towed w/ bumper in tire. LEOs back to work.

Wife.
Headed for Church Sunday morning. We take both vehicles a lot. She picks up several ladies & I had an afternoon funeral Sunday. She sees LEO in a pretty regular spot. He pulls out & coming fast. She checks speed & not close. Pulls over to let him by. OOOOPPS right in behind her.
She gets out DL, CHL, & Ins. Purse back in passenger seat. Window down before he approaches. Declares her CHL & armed. He asks where it is. In purse. He adked if it would be alright if he set it on top of car. Yes sir.
Do you know why I stopped you maam? :headscratch :headscratch No sir I did not think I was speeding.
No maam. Your inspection sticker expiered in July. :banghead:
So now we have a borrowed truck, (supposed to get mine back mid week) & 2 tickets. I have done the on line Defensive Driving.

Prepared starts w/ the simple things like being comfortable talking to LEOs while armed.
Drive safe, watch your window stickers, spend $$$$$$$ on ammo not tickets.
Have a great day

What a frustrating couple of weeks, LT.

Lord, please give LT and his wife a chance to step back and take a deep breath, before they plunge back into the busy, busy, busy.

Glad no one was hurt.

These things can occur to anyone. I find it very easy to forget about my inspection stickers and accidents happen.

I look at it as, there’s nothing I can do but learn from the past and move on. I’m sure there will be many sunny days ahead and one day ya’ll will laugh about the hard times your having now.

I hope they pass soon for you.

I'm glad to hear that a couple of dents were the only damage. I hope it isn't too much of a hassle getting the repairs done.

Speaking of expired stickers... there is a truck in the parking lot at work with one that expired in June, and one that expired in January.

I was walking through a Fry's Electronics parking lot with my wife a couple of weeks ago and she stopped in front of a car to double check what she had just seen . . . an inspection sticker that expired in June . . . of 2008!!!

They sure don't make it easy to see the inspection sticker from the inside of the car anymore since they now all have the blue backing on them.
[Insert pithy witicism here]

Proudly carrying since 09/10.

Glad to hear that everyone is alright, the roads are dangerous places these days and with all the driving we do today you are just playing the odds. I am not sure if the sticker is not something that you can't get fixed in a certain time frame and have dismissed. Otherwise I am sorry about your truck and as others have said I am sure it will be a laughing matter one day since you haven't had a ticket or accident in so long. Hope the rest of your week is much better.

Praise the lord that you were not hurt.

If your wife is like mine, she has blamed you for the inspection sticker, even though you never drive her car. :biggrinjester:

Just saw on the news that they are changing the stickers to show the numbers on the inside, but they will be backward like looking through the sticker.

And Jerry, you guys have had enough strife for a while. Will pray that things settle down for you.

Yikes. The court will often dismiss the inspection sticker citations if you update it prior to contacting the court.

Yesterday I had a guy ask me how in the world I could see that little sticker on his car while he was passing me at 60MPH :biggrinjester: Truth is..I have been wrong more than once and had to apologize and be on my way.

I hope you have had enough excitement in your vehicles to last for many years.

You obviously don't live in Pasadena. There's a dually Chevy truck around the corner from me that parks opposing traffic everyday with 2006 registration and inspection. Calls to PD have no effect. Of course my daughter got ticketed once while home from college for parking in directly in front of our house which apparently was less than 30 feet from the stop sign. :headscratch

Sometimes, things just happen all at once. Glad you are ok. Cars are easier to fix than people. As for the inspection sticker, mine went a month out of inspection too and thankfully I saw it before the police did. I have a friend who swears when hers goes out, it must give off some kind of signal to every policeman in a 50 mile radius. She gets a ticket every time. I think the difference is my truck is fairly new and hers is an oldie, which maybe the police are checking the stickers on more often?
