New shooting @ Fort Bliss

I'm thinking they need a new name for that fort.

I'll quit carrying a gun when they make murder and armed robbery illegal

It's time to allow service men and women to carry on their person if they're so inclined. :banghead:

You can thank the former President Bill Clinton.
Among President Clinton’s first acts upon taking office in 1993 was to disarm U.S. soldiers on military bases. In March 1993, the Army imposed regulations forbidding military personnel from carrying their personal firearms and making it almost impossible for commanders to issue firearms to soldiers in the U.S. for personal protection

As Commander in chief, Bill Clinton made it impossible for a Service member to carry his legally owned, personal weapon for self defense.

Simonelli says the shooting was reported about 3 p.m. and authorities responded in about three minutes. He said the post's emergency notification system worked well, sending several messages to his cell phone.

"Our law enforcement agents took it upon themselves to react immediately and aggressively, and I think that's the main reason why this didn't escalate further than it is right now," Simonelli said.

A prime example of "When seconds count, the police are only minutes away." (No disrespect to law enforcement just a reality)

Thank God they were able to contain this but it is a good reminder of you are not safe anywhere. :banghead:

I'm very suprised to not see anything about this except for the one Fox News story. One of my co-workers did say he saw it on the evening news last night, but I really thought I would see some statement or report when I arrived at where I am working, the Dallas HQ of the company that runs the shoppette were this occured. Only a few people have mentioned it and no official communications about the incident have come out yet. Waiting for more details to come.

I used to spend plenty of money at that Shoppette back in the day. If I am not mistaken that is the same one that is right next to the PX.

Authorities identified the gunman as a retired Army sergeant, 63 year old Steven Kropf of El Paso. It was also reported that 44-year-old Bettina Maria Goins of El Paso was pronounced dead at a hospital after the shooting and that another woman remains hospitalized with serious injuries.
