New to the forum so forgive me if there is a better source to answer my question. I am a Tx CHL holder traveling to Pennsylvania via air and checking my handgun. I plan to drive back to Texas via a U-Haul and am curious about resiprocity along my route to carry conceal. My route will take me through the following states beginning in PA: OH, KY, TN, AR, then TX. Do the states listed 1) honor the Castle Doctrine, and 2) provide TX CHL resiprocity? Many of my searches reveal a possible problem with resiprocity thru OH. Also I have seen not everyone recognizes Castle Doctrine for having a gun in the car. Can anyone provide some insight or a reliable source to research my inquiry?

Ohio is not reciprocal with Texas.

You MAY be able to carry it loaded in the glove box.

I'll take a crack at it. We've seen articles where the police in Philly are saying that they will cite or arrest folk carrying with out of state CC licenses. It might be the same in Pittsburg, dunno.

I have been in the other states, except Ohio, without incident. I don't know about other states or if they even have Castle Laws. Also, be careful with your application of the Castle Law here in Texas. It does not allow you to carry a gun in your car. A CHL and the MPA is what makes that possible in Texas. I think the Castle Law extends the same rights we have to defend our homes to our vehicles and helps protect us against civil litigation after a legitimate shooting.

You will notice that in the second one, Ohio does not recognize my Texas carry permit, but in the first one I am OK in Ohio because of my Utah CFP.

The advantage the concealedcarry.net app is that it does all those calculations on the fly for you, AND gives you links to all the CCW information for each of the states you'll be passing through - all without having to download a series of PDF files to access the information.

I don't mean to rag on Handgunlaw.us as they have provided a useful service, but I really think that the concealedcarry.net app is better and easier to use. But that's just me.

Thank you for your swift replies. Since the driving trip will start in Western PA (Pittsburgh), let's be thankful that 1) the first part of my trip is quickly through OH...glad Steelers not playing Browns or Bengals previous weekend, and 2) during daylight hours minimizing necessity for a potential confrontation during day light hours...although rage can occur at any hour. I think smooth sailing through TN, AR and no brainer TX will finish the trip.
