His performance may actually do some good. He made a mockery of the hearing, but they invited him to give testimony. He was "asked to share his vast experience, spending one day as a migrant farm worker". It is a great example of how disfunctional our government is.

Perhaps next week they can have Lindsay Lohan give testimony from her jail cell on the merits of healthcare reform.

On the one hand I find his attempted humor and mockery in bad form, he's wasting time and not providing much information with his testimony. On the other hand it was funny, even the seriousness of congress could be lightened once in a while.

I was thinking perjury for testifying that he didn't know that the soil was at ground level.

Instapundit, Daily Trawler, and some others point out the likely prospect that the Dems put this clown show on today to give their buddies in the MSM -- and their critics -- something to talk about other than the fact that one of DOJ's people broke ranks and defied Holder's orders to ignore the Civil Rights Commission's subpeona.

Christopher Coates testified today that Holder and the DOJ, by internal policy, refuses to enforce the Voting Rights Act when minorities are at fault and white people are being discriminated against. E.g. the Philadelphia Black Panther intimidation case that was inexplicably dropped AFTER it was essentially won in court.

It appears the gambit worked beautifully. When I google "Christopher Coates" and look under "News" I get no stories by any of the mainstream media operations.

I'm suprised no one has made any comments about the CongressWOMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN, Sheila JAckson Lee, apparently she can't listen to private citizens without texting. There is nothing more irritating to me than someone texting while someone else is speaking to them............even someone spouting off nonsense like Colbert was.

Foxnews picked up the Coats story, I also heard it on talk radio yesterday afternoon. I think this story may gain some traction later depending on the results of the testimony.

I think his little show was perfect. He's a political satirist with no knowledge or information worthy of taking in front of congress and yet they asked him to go. He just recognized how ridiculous that was and showed it--guess what, using satire. Maybe it will be enough to make them re-think celebrity testimony in the future. I think this was the perfect response to their request--it highlights just how ridiculous they and these proceedings they're running are.
