Mark Davis Show - DFW TODAY 9/29/10 8:30AM

His show today should be interesting. His promos all day yesterday and this morning are all about campus carry.
Now that the Campus Carry Issue has gotten suddenly 'hot', due to yesterday's incident at UT, We need to make sure that Only FACTS are getting distributed to the masses, as much as we possibly can.
This means monitoring popular radio shows, and discussions that the undecided masses might be hearing on the subject, now for the first time.

Just because someone with a microphone is advocating something, doesn't mean that they know all the facts, or will be able to debunk/counter arguments from people calling in. We need to help out and give all the factual information we can.

I would like to request that our DFW Members do their best to make sure that any Myths or Misconceptions voiced on the show, either by the host, or possible callers, get properly debunked by Facts. :thumbs2:
You can do this guys (and girls!). Get on those phones! (If we could get some knowledgeable ladies to call in, that would be :thumbs2: :thumbs2: :thumbs2: as well!!!)

References for Facts:
http://www.gunfacts.info" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
http://www.concealedcampus.org/common_arguments.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you can get a shout-out for ConcealedCampus.org on the show, that would be awesome. Also these Forums would be great to get on the show.

Also, If anyone knows of any up-coming shows like this, where it will cover a large audience, We need to let Charles, and the TSRA know. This way they might be able to get a representative on the show to present the facts, and bolster our side a little better :thumbs2:

The Austin station KLBJ was talking about it some last night. Mainly about how "teenagers with guns" and "everybody running around campus with a gun" was a bad idea. I was foaming at the mouth a little much to call in and sound reasonable, so I just turned it off instead. :oops:

Yeah, like the "teenagers" in the United States Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, etc. You keep treating young adults like children, they're going to act like children. Colleges these days seem to act to postpone adulthood rather than reinforce it.....argh.

KXAN's comment section yesterday was similar.

Most common objections were
1) A bunch of students with licenses waiving guns around recklessly
2) A bunch of students with licenses running towards a shooter to all encounter him
3) A bunch of students with licenses waiving guns around that the police would assume was a second shooter.
4) a bunch of students shooting at other CHLs who they see have guns.

I countered most with things SIMILAR to:

Most people don't run towards a rattlesnake they hear, but rather run away. Most CHLs are armed to reduce risks, not to take additional risks playing Batman. Most CHL instructors say run AWAY from gunfire, not towards it. How many CHLs did you hear about when the State Capitol had a gunman jumping into the fracas pulling tools from their Batman Belt?

CHLs won't be waiving guns around, the word "concealed" means concealed. To intentional un-conceal is a crime and most CHLs won't be waiving anything around trying to get a license suspended and spend time in jail.

Most CHLs would be hunkered down and as a shooter executes people one by one, when the shooter arrives at my table and points a gun at my head, I'll be able to resist him. If you are downstream from me, your life may be protected by me eliminating a threat at my table. If you are upstream from me, I'm not Batman, sorry, you should have gotten your own license. I got mine to try to defend my own life.

CHLs are aware that they are responsible for any and every bullet fired, criminally and possibly civilly. You won't meet a more cautious careful group of people.
