That kind of talk usually only comes from people lacking the spine to join the military themselves.
I find it extremely ironic that institutions we count on to protect our lives, property, and our way of life, will have their personnel selection policies and procedures questioned by those unwilling, or incapable, of serving in those particular professions.
No one questions professional sports teams when they pursue only those with the highest physical standards for their profession. And yet...if a segment of the population fails to meet the physical or mental demands established by a fire department, or a police department, or our military, they DEMAND the standards are lowered to accommodate that segment of the population.
I guess it IS more important our society has the fastest wide receivers available to score that touch down, as opposed to having the individual capable of carrying the body out of a burning building, or physically restraining a felon, or having the strength and endurance needed to fight our nations wars.
