Pearland women killed in home invasion
A Pearland women was killed by a robber with a gun. She had enough time to call her security company who alerted police and a neighbor who reported that she said a man was in her home with a gun. She was found by police shot dead.

Pearland is in the suburbs, not on Houston's Northeast side.
Its a shame no one is safe in their homes anymore.
It was not like this when I grew up. I'm not sure what has changed.

Granted, our alarm goes to an open line within a few seconds of a no-delay trigger, but time to tell the security company what's going on is enough time to decide I need a bigger gun and go get it out of the closet.philip964 wrote:A Pearland women was killed by a robber with a gun. Last time my wife accidentally set it off (and I wasn't expecting her that early) I went from asleep to armed, halfway to swapping the 1911 for the 12ga by the time she got to the panel.

This is sad. There is another post on the site about a man killed in his home on the same street 30 minutes prior to this one.Thoughts and prayers to both families.
If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun. – The Dalai Lama

When I first saw the other post I thought it was a duplicate, but it is not. I did not realize they were so close both in distance and time. They need to get this guy, before he kills someone else.
The other shooting had witnesses and the story is very frightening. The man appeared to have tried to save his family from the BG.
My heart goes out to these families.

Saw that. I was wondering if it might be the same BG.cbucher wrote:This is sad. There is another post on the site about a man killed in his home on the same street 30 minutes prior to this one.Thoughts and prayers to both families.

Every time I see one of the major alarm company TV ads it makes me furious. To state that all you need is a security system with an alarm to keep your family safe isn't merely misleading, it's a bald face lie!philip964 wrote:A Pearland women was killed by a robber with a gun. We have an alarm system too, but it's purpose is to sound the "go code."

Bingo! All the alarm does is wake you and give you enough opportunity to gun-up!Charles L. Cotton wrote:

Re: Pearland women killed in home invasion
Can anyone confirm that this is, indeed, two separate incidents? This article is the only one I find referencing a woman. Both occurred on 10/10 at around 2AM in the 3100 block of Springdale. Surely this would be making the news as a spree if it were indeed two separate incidents.philip964 wrote:When I first saw the other post I thought it was a duplicate, but it is not. I thought the same thing. The ads for Brinks (which changed their name now I believe) shows multiple ads with a man breaking in, looks at the inhabitants menacingly, and as she grabs the phone he takes off. Every time I think/say "YEA RIGHT!" They would be doing a little more than giving you a nasty look even if you didn't have a phone in your hand while they were looking at you!!Charles L. P.S. I emphasis she because they never show a man doing that because I honestly think a.) the security company knows better in that a man would be getting a gun and b.) these ads are carefully targeted at women.
Sorry for a bit of thread drift, I always hate to hear these stories and hope this perpetrator gets whats coming to him.

"she grabs the phone he takes off"
Reminds me of the "gun-free zone video" where granny in bed points to the sign ... so, of course the bad guy must leave.

c) they don't want to show the alarm company call center rep tearing her headphones off of her bleeding ears because the first thing that came over the open line with the ultra-sensitive mic was an incoherent roar and a shotgun blast.kalipsocs wrote:P.S. Yes, I warned our company to make sure the thing has a good limiter on it.

Re: Pearland women killed in home invasion
I too am unclear about who was shot and killed. The article says a man was shot and killed, not a woman. Was it the man the neighbor who she called instead of 911? I havent lived in Pearland my entire life, but this rise in crime is distrubing. i too have made it a habit to have my pistol on my nightstand as well ready to go in case my alarm sounds.

Re: Pearland women killed in home invasion
Given the articles I can find, I think this was a single incident - with the male homeowner being the one shot. The first story just mixed the details up.cubbyjg wrote:I too am unclear about who was shot and killed. The article says a man was shot and killed, not a woman. Edit: In fact, the original article has been updated - it was a male killed - and there is now a police sketch of the suspect.
