Hypothetical question for ya'll:
GC §411.205. REQUIREMENT TO DISPLAY LICENSE. (a) If a license
holder is carrying a handgun on or about the license holder's
person when a magistrate or a peace officer demands that the license
holder display identification, the license holder shall display both the license
holder's driver's license or identification certificate issued by the
department and the license holder's handgun license
Does 411.205 apply to someone with an out of state CHL? In my case, I currently carry with my Utah permit. Granted, I studied up before I moved, and I took the Texas course recently (CHL applied for).
Common sense dicates that I follow Texas law, of course. Not interested in surprising an officer with the fact that I'm carrying. Not looking for the common sense answer, though. Trying to figure out, out of curiosity, if I'd be required to display my out of state permit with my Texas DL if asked for the DL.
I have an opinion, but I'd like to hear other ideas before sharing it.
Thoughts?

IANAL, but I believe you would also be required to show your license.
Having said that, there is no penalty in the statutes for anyone who fails to do so. Not even if us natives fail to show it!

I believe it it required, just as DPS is required to notify me when they reveal my Texas CHL status to a law enforcement agency. I'm still waiting...
However, the penalty has been removed and, regardless, Texas DPS has no authority to suspend a license issued by Utah BCI. (AFAIK, IANAL, WWJD)

Carrying in Texas on a Utah non-resident CFP requires that you follow Texas CHL law.
On the other hand a LEO will have no way of knowing you have a CFP. I would suggest
always be up front and display your CFP, it is legal!!!

The law says you have to display both when asked for ID by a peace officer in Texas if you're carrying.

Simple...enough said and we didn't waste any space.
