The slide on my Glock (27) needs to be re-finished. Can anyone recommend a place to get this done? I would like to have it done as close to the Glock original finish. Would be nice if there is someone in Texas that could do this.
Thanks, Stan

Companies that do quality work.

Re: Re-finish Question
Thanks cougar - I will probably use one of the two you suggested. I was hoping there was one in Texas. Last time I checked there was a long wait for re-finishing which attests to the quality of their work. I was trying to avoid that. This slide was at Glock for 10 weeks (for re-finishing) and I was trying to avoid another 10 weeks or so.

AndyC wrote:The Glock finish is parkerizing over tenifer (ferritic nitrocarburizing), so you could redo the park by getting a home-parkerizing kit and doing it yourself - they work incredibly well in only a few minutes.

I've done this many times in the past with great results.

Re: Re-finish Question
This company (formerly Burns Gun Repair) http://www.canyonsportingarms.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; is at Canyon Lake. I haven't had any work done there, but have talked to the owner (Tip Burns) on a couple of issues and got the impression that he likes to do finishing work.

Nicolai - Thanks for the info. I am going to contact him. This nice thing is this business is only about 25 miles from where I live.

Re: Re-finish Question
Just call Glock. They used to just charge $45 to reblacken a Glock slide. You need not send in the entire gun. It may be more than $45 now, but not by much.
I did it 2 times in the 1990s.

Re: Re-finish Question
shipwreck - I did send this slide to Glock for them to re-finish. Before I sent it to them I was aware that Glock contracts re-finishing to an outside company and the re-finish job could be hit or miss in quality. Well, I got my slide back 10 weeks later and my re-finish job fell on the "miss" side. I don't know how but it seems they forgot to re-finish one side of the slide. On the good side (if there is one) I did not have to pay because it was done under warranty. Don't get me wrong, I like Glock and always will and Glock is my favorite pistola.
