Police Negligent Discharge During Arrest

Post by Excaliber »

Negligent discharge of a firearm during physical exertion or a struggle is not an accident - it's a very high likelihood negligently caused event if one has his finger on the trigger before a decision to fire has been made.

This incident that occurred in Boise, ID is just another reminder that the involuntary clenching of the opposite hand that happens when you clench the other will fire a gun held in that hand if a finger is on the trigger.

This Police One article discusses the realities. They apply to non-LEO's equally because our bodies are all wired the same way.

Yep, the agency seems to be attempting to address only one of the two issues here. Hopefully, they are internally discussing the "booger picker on the bang switch" problem as well.

Oops - a dash instead of an equal sign problem. Fixed in the earlier post as well.
