ATF crying the blues...

As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

ATF crying the blues...

Post by kahrfreak »

This article showed up in the DMN this morning...here's a link to what looks like the unabridged article:

http://www.denverpost.com/nationworld/ci_16442702" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Basically, the ATF is boo-hooing over not having the resources to conduct computerized gun traces. I learned something new: I never realized the NRA actively lobbied against computerization of ATF records.

Of course, said article has a definite anti-gun bias. Still an interesting read though.

2 thoughts come to mind reading this.

1. My understanding is that most guns used in crimes are stolen, so finding the person that bought it is pointless.
2. BAFTE created their own paperwork problem by going after collectors that only sold a few guns a year, at gun shows. Thousands of people got licensed after that, and now BAFTE has to check up on them.

The last item I remembered reading in the http://www.gunfacts.info guide. I looked it up, its on page 60.
