Going through the process...

Post by NEB »

I'm currently in the middle of the process of applying for my CHL (new license). So far, I have applied online and payed the state fee. I got my passport photos today. I have my CHL class on Saturday, and I'll be getting my FAST prints done next week. Obviously I have to send in my class info, photos, etc. to complete my application, but is there anything I am missing in this process?

I'm looking forward to the class Saturday (love learning and it's another reason to go shoot :D). I guess after that's done, it's just a waiting game. Thanks for the great information that everyone has posted here. Great food for thought.

Welcome NEB!

Pay attention in class and good luck. If you've been reading here for a while you should be just fine.

Welcome.
I go to Lubbock a couple times a year, I was hatched there long long ago.
Only reason I haven't moved back is the lack of kayak fishing spots nearby
That and the wind
and the dust
and ..
Still, I like the stores, scenery, people, values, churches, attitudes, traffic, streets, drier air, and the best part is, it isn't Amarillo. (where it's too cold to carry a metal gun, you gotta get a Tupperware one in Amarillo)

I gotta say it's worth doing because of who you're doing it for.

Welcome NEB, well, how did you do on your :fire and your :rules: for the class. I'm sure you enjoyed the :fire more than the classroom, I know the wife and me, as well as the others in our class, did. So, congratulations and again, welcome aboard.

I think I did alright. Scored 250/250 on the qualifying (with a 3" 1911--Springfield EMP) and missed one on the written exam. :grumble . I enjoyed the class, though it was a long 12 hour haul. Now it's just the wait as I sent everything in this week and got my prints done. We will see how fast DPS is with the various holidays coming up.

Thanks for the welcome, folks!

Welcome NEB, I'm about 65 miles south east of you on US 62. I'm glad to hear that you did well in your class, did you take it at Patriot or one of the others? I think we need to have a get together for all the Lubbock area folks so we can put some faces to some names. Here's to a short wait for you (Hopefully).
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

GA, I ended up going through Mike with Talon CHL. His class time just worked out better for me, and he's got a great price as well. I've only been over to Patriot once, but I'll have to go shooting sometime. Most of my shooting is down out on the family farm about 45 miles north of Lubbock.

I don't guess it's so bad waiting on the state. As it is, I'm waiting on a carry rigs as well. I've got a Crossbreed ST on order, and I've got Adams Leather Works putting together an OWB rig (pancake with matching mag pouch and gun belt). If the plastic comes in before the holsters, I guess I'll just Mexican string it for a while :rolll (completely kidding).
