Re: Legal or no
Much like they post 30.06 at gun shows at other government buildings, I do not think its legal (where you would be found guilty) however that does not mean you would not get a ride in the back of a police car....

Re: Legal or no
Sign looks more like they want everything to be safe , as stated on it. I would honor sign...

Re: Legal or no
According to my instructor, it's legal to post the sign but it doesn't bar LEO and doesn't bar CHL if it's government owned property and there's no court, government meeting, etc.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Notice (of intent) is given!
Re: Legal or no
Ameer, I agree with you 100%....However, if it is posted (even not supposed to be legal), that won't stop the cop arresting you from taking you "downtown".
It may just stop you from being found guilty in a court of law.
Personally, I do not want to be the test case
OG, same could be said for posting the Texas Capital building, doesn't make it legal (or right)

Consider this notice (of my intent) to ignore their intent.Oldgringo wrote:Notice (of intent) is given!

I say carry away. It's not a violation of the law.

The legislature made their intent very clear when they passed the LAW and said it doesn't apply on government property.

By all means, you and ScottDLS exercise your 2A rights and stroll right in there with your licensed CW. Should you be apprehended and charged with unlawful carry, it shouldn't take a whole lot of money and time to establish your innocence.Ameer wrote:Oldgringo wrote:Notice (of intent) is given!![]()

Me, I'll wait outside. Good luck, y'all.

The last time I was in the Brownwood Coliseum (actually the only time) was for my high school prom. I remember some of it........

Re: Legal or no
A better approach, it is file suit against the institution or entity posting valid 30.06 notice where the law does not allow that.
How about that?

I'm not real keen with people arguing over simantics. You do what you want, however I don't have the money or the time to argue about it. I may be accused of being one of "those instructors" that just spouts his opinion, but I don't think venues or shop owners are sending secret messages to me that carrying is ok by posting bad signs. In my eyes the intent to notify was made. Now, like the old show "Mission Impossible", your job, should you "choose" to accept it ...is to remain concealed. Have I confused and blurred the line enough????? I hope so.
Like I tell my students, the most important part of this is to get you thinking.

Re: Legal or no
The problem is that the law does allow them to post invalid 30.06 signs and it places the responsibility of knowing if it is valid on the CHL holder and any responding police officer.Beiruty wrote:A better approach, it is file suit against the institution or entity posting valid 30.06 notice where the law does not allow that.

I'd really like to see the law amended to require posted 30.06 signs to be valid and a means of having invalid signs removed.
