This past Sat and Sun, 11/20-21, was the Frisco Gun Show.
It was held in the Dr. Pepper Arena, a hockey rink. The mezzanine level
had vendors around the entire perimeter, while the bulk of the vendors were
located down on the hockey rink, no ice visible. :-)
While browsing the tables, I happened upon 2 early/mid 20's guys who were
looking at Springfield Armory XD's. We started chatting. They were going to
get their CHL's, but had not done so yet.
They weren't really too sure about what gun would fit their needs, so I pointed
out the pros and cons of various calibers, brands, concealment issues, etc.
One of the two was pretty sure that a .40 was in his future.
He handled XD's and M & P's with no particular like or dislike. He handled a Sig Sauer
and definitely did not like the Sig due to a fat grip. The gun he gravitated to over and
over at a few vendors was the Ruger SR40.
We discussed carrying, rig issues, I gave him our forum addy, as well as Russell's http://www.texas3006.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
They were somewhat surprised after we talked for a while and I told them I was carrying both of my handguns.

IMHO, I felt that the Frisco show had quite a few vendors and was worth visiting next time it comes around.

While at Friendswood I took a mini-clinic in speed reloading of semi-auto's and I realized that my ballistic
nylon double ammo pouch with velcro straps was sub-standard for quick reloads. I picked up a Kydex V-shaped
double ammo holder. It was the Springfield XD Gear unit, but my Taurus 9MM mags actually fit better in
it than a different unit that was supposed to be for Taurus mags.

The Fishers House (sp?) is a charity which helps out military veterans. I picked up 3 raffle tickets for $10.
The prize is a Springfield Armory 1911, GI model. It will be awarded at the Fort Worth gun show in June, 2011.
A nice prize, and the money goes for a good cause.
