New HD Shotgun!
When to Academy on my lunch break. A buddy was hem-hawing around about which subcompact pistol he was going to get, so I ended up looking at shotguns, and found one that felt so good it just had to come home with me.

Second one pictured. It is an Escort MP P-A 12 gauge. 18.5" barrel, 5+1 capacity. Pistol-grip tactical speed feed type stock. Fiber-optic ghost rings. Picatinny rail on receiver and forearm. Heat shield. Very solid feeling shotgun. Smooth, short action with a crisp, if slightly heavy feeling trigger. Shoulders very nicely and sight acquisition is effortless. $289 + tax.
I can't wait to get it to the range. I feel much better knowing that we have a more formidable long gun than my lever-action .22 or my single shot .410. Pistols are nice, but there is something comforting about an evil black shotgun.

I'm not going to lie...looks played a part in the buying decision. The dang thing just looks so evil and sexy...
Above that, though, it has a LOT of features for an HD shotgun at the price I paid for it, and it feels like a very quality firearm. Almost everything I read on the web about Hatsan was positive, so I decided to take a chance on it over a Mossberg or a Remington. Worst case, I learned a lesson to avoid Turkish shotguns. I don't think that's going to be the case. It just feels like quality.

Re: New HD Shotgun!
I bought one a few months ago @ Academy (first one pictured). Finally got a chance to shoot it a while back. IT WORKS. Kicks like a mule, but it does what it's supposed to do. Good HD shotgun. I wouldn't want to be on the business end of it.

I had a student recently that had an Escort 12 ga. It ran great and was reasonable accurate for home defense.

The wife is already alternately referring to it as the "Zombie Killer Deluxe" or the "Walking Dead house cannon"

I was going to buy one of those on friday. I really like the sights. I instead went the way of remington 870 so I could customize as I please.

IThas two integrated picatinny rails, and accessories for HK/Fabarms FP6 are supposed to fit it. All I am really interested in is possibly a mag extension. I like the stock, and I love the sights, so I wasn't too worried about anything else.

I am still waiting for comments about the High Definition [HD] shotgun.lrb111 wrote:So noted, and added to the personal lexicon.maverick2076 wrote:The wife is already alternately referring to it as the "Zombie Killer Deluxe" or the "Walking Dead house cannon"

I've got a little bit of cashola set aside for a new toy and I'm hoping the Academy black Friday ad will have something like this in it!

Re: New HD Shotgun!
Apparently, $289 is their regular price on the Escort. The Black Friday ad is up on Academy's website. They have a Rossi .357 for $199, and a Diamondback .380 for $259. I don't remember seeing any home defense shotguns in the ad, but I might have missed one.
I'll get to the range next week sometime and let y'all know what I think of it.

Well, it's certainly tacticool looking. Let us know how it performs. I'm surprised it only holds 5. Seems like my Mossberg used to hold 6-8 depending shell size.

Apparently, imported shotguns are limited to a 5 round magazine.
