Remington 870 extended mag tube

Post by E150GT »

A couple weeks ago I picked up a Remington 870 express synthetic 12gauge in 18" barrel from Academy. So far I think it is a pretty sweet gun. I took it skeet shooting this weekend and it sure is a kicker. Of course I was using game loads, but that's my mistake, I've never shot skeet before. Anyway, I ordered a Pro-mag + 2 extended mag tube from midway and I installed it today. I was disappointed with the looks of it right away. It sticks out way past the barrel about 2". I was under the impression that the +2 was to sit flush with the end of the barrel like the pictures I've seen with the extended mags. Does anyone have an 870 that has an add on extended magazine tube or know which one is the correct one to sit flush with the barrel? The descriptions are not so clear as to the fit other than I will have to file a couple of dimples on the tube to allow the rounds to feed into the extension. Also if anyone has any recommendations for a good set of ghost ring sights to install I'd appreciate that too. Thanks for reading through the long post.

Mine is flush. I am on the road right now in Austin but can check mine tomorrow evening when I get back home. I'm not sure what brand/model # I installed on mine but it is flush and works like a charm. Maybe someone can help in the meantime. Good luck!

Remington makes one specifically for that gun.

Mine came with it installed, it should look like this:

It should bring a 4-round tube on the 18" up to 6 rounds. I've seen them at Academy, and I'm sure they're available from other locations as well.

Mine is flush. I think it is made by Remington but it's been on there so long I can't remember. Could yours be the one for a 20" ?

I saw the remington one on the site, but when I tried to purchase it, I cant find it in their store.

Midway has it listed, although it is out of stock right now--they say they will have it 12/10, and their estimates are usually pretty accurate in my experience.
