I'm going to Fair Park tomorrow with some friends. I'm not familiar with the area at all. It seems to be a bunch of parks, museums, theaters, etc.

Do any of you guys know whether the area as a whole is off limits or if any of the individual buildings are known to be posted? Also, do any of the buildings have metal detectors? I'll be with friends that don't know I carry and I'd like to keep it that way.

It should not be posted and legally cannot be posted. It is owned by the city of Dallas. I've been in several of the buildings and have not seen any metal detectors yet. Oh, they do get a little uptight about The Cotten Bowl, but even that, according to the statutes, is only off limits when a game is in progress.

Check this page out about halfway down. I forgot to mention that they might have the "wands" there.

There may or may not be Dallas Police Officers there. They may want to write down some of your personal information like DL# or CHL# or name and address or whatever. This next part is up to you, but I would politely refuse as long as I could to let them do this. There are many reasons and I'm sure you can come up with several on your own for not allowing them to have this information. I would not show my CHL to a stranger that is not LE, but that's just me. If there aren't any around I may be forced to to gain entry.
