Sight numerous, different, rifles in at same range ?

Hi folks, I'm not that savvy with regard to rifle sighting so bear with me

Of my collection, consider my favorite three rifles - Vz58 with iron sights, AR15 with 1-4x scope and BUIS, LR308 with 16x scope and BUIS. I would probably consider each rifle to fulfil a somewhat different role - Vz58 short distance upto 100yds (eg home defense), AR15 upto 300yds (home defense and gun-games) and the LR308 beyond 300yds (range fun. Oh hang on, that applies to all three ), although there is alot of overlap etc.

OK - onto the question - given that set of rifles, would you sight them all in seperately; the Vz at, say, 50yds; AR15 at 100 or 200yds; LR308 at further than that; and if so, how on earth do you keep track of where each one is sighted at - OR - just sight them all in at the same distance (say, 100yds) just for consistancy ?

If you sight in at different distances, do you write the distance on the stock or receiver or something so you can keep track ? Otherwise how on earth do you know where each one is going to shoot, especially if you swap between rifles, say, if you used one rifle for one gun-game (eg 3-gun) and another for something else (eg precision rifle) ?

Second question - do you sight in the BUIS to match where you sighted in the scope, or again, sight in all the BUIS for the same distance ?

I zero all the rifles I own in at 100 yds, and just remember what kind of elevation adjustments I need to make to be on out to 300 yds,

Same as Weg, 100 yards deadon sight. On the ar and lr take a fine line sharpie and mark on your stock 100yd sight and look up ballistics for drop out to 500yds and mark.
Example.
100yds-0"
200yds-2"
300yds-9"
400yds-21"
500yds-44"
Works very well when you can't remember from rifle to rifle what your drop is.

I'm going to be fooling around with the sights on my AR soon based on the "improved battlesight zero" approach - a variation not only on the US Marine zeroing process, but sort of a "point blank zeroing" as well apparently. On a carbine like an AR, I like the idea of having one set zero that offers the least amount of bullet rise/drop out to the longest possible distance. Might even sight in my AR's scope the same way, but haven't decided that yet.

My one and only hunting rifle (Savage 11 in .308) I'm sighted in about an inch high at 100 yards which supposedly puts me within point blank zeroing out to about 300 - but I have not shot it beyond 100.

You should try the "Revised Improved Battlesight Zero" (RIBZ). It gives more flexibility than the IBZ.
