I want to see this, since I'll be 491 years old the next time it happens. Unfortunately, it's going to be cloudy here.

I photographed a lunar eclipse about 5 years ago....i'll check it out, but don't think I can stay up to watch it from start to finish again!

What? You afraid that by then you will be too old to stay up all night?

I'll bet you will still be shooting IDPA!

Ahem.... Are you planning on relativistic travel between now and Dec 10, 2011? :coolgleamA:

And, looks very promising out there right now, with a nice bright full moon!!!

We'll be out there about 0140 Central.

12/10/11 is not the solstice...that's what is making this one so special.

Someone who can actually see this needs to shoot some photos for those of us under cloud cover.

Just entering the umbra. Clouds came in heavily from the SW, then passed on -- beautiful seeing!

Well, the clouds just rolled in here - and 30 minutes from totality. Dagnabbit!

Nothing useful under the cloud cover from Cypress.

And to think that not only is the weather uncooperative now, but tomorrow, on the winter solstice, we have a good chance of hitting record high temperatures in Houston.

Just the slightest remnant of almost-direct sunlight on the limb, then the big clouds rolled in. Orion was very nice nearby. Houston took out the rest, as always. Will be in umbra for roughly another hour.

Not being too serious about photography, using the small camera without a tripod, but maybe got lucky.

For images after it's over, be sure to check out http://Spaceweather.com .

One webcast is at http://www.ccssc.org/webcast.html . Goddard's link is http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse.html, but it comes up slowly (wonder why? with only millions trying to call it up?).

Observing seems to be done. Looks like another half-hour at least of clouds. :banghead:

At least we were pleasantly surprised that Stellarium showed the eclipse, right on the money.
