30.06 sign posted at entrance to school parking lot

Post by BowhunterMac »

Was driving in Plano today and noticed a sign posted at the entrance to the school parking lot. I turned around to check it out. It was a faded 30.06 sign, legal when
It was new I presume....but now it's faded and the bottom half is illegible(Spanish translation). Also it was only posted at the "entrance" side of the lot, not both sides(in case you went in the wrong way when traffic was slow).

Is this a legal posting of this sign, or are they, the school or ISD, be responsible for keeping signage in good, readable condition to be "legal"?

FYI, myself or my kids have no business at this school or even this district. Aldo I haven't noticed other campuses in Plano, but will start looking when I drive past.

They can post any sign they want, however unless it is a private school it is unenforceable due to the state's pre-emption.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

PC §46.035. UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF HANDGUN BY LICENSE
HOLDER.
...
I guess this answers my question....I was confused by the posting at the entrance to parking lot/drive thru area.

(b) A license holder commits an offense if the license holder intentionally,
knowingly, or recklessly carries a handgun under the authority
of Subchapter H, Chapter 411, Government Code, regardless of
whether the handgun is concealed, on or about the license holder's
person:
...
(2) on the premises where a high school, collegiate, or professional
sporting event or interscholastic event is taking place, unless
the license holder is a participant in the event and a handgun is used
in the event;
...
(3) "Premises" means a building or a portion of a building. The
term does not include any public or private driveway, street, sidewalk
or walkway, parking lot, parking garage, or other parking area.

:iagree:
It's meaningless at a public school parking lot by 30.06(e) but

It has the same force of law at a private school as any private business.
