It would indeed make me nervous, as I feel I'm in a shooting gallery (with cars) every day just trying to drive home. Thinking about those bozos (nothing against Bozo, by the way) having guns would/will bother me even more!

I would think that a person who would shoot someone over road rage might be carrying a gun regardless of the legality...

Agreed. I was (inadequately) expressing why open carry would make me (and most others) nervous. I infer in your comment that there is already reason to be nervous -- I agree, and that's why we're here in this forum...

It's a matter of trust in the Common Man, which is so truly hard to achieve these days. While I try hard, I continue to be taught that (greedy and amoral?) people have made this is a day and age when it is dangerous to trust. Completely contrary to the world when we were growing up, when most people were looking out for each other in so many ways.

I don't have a problem with the current system. Maybe tweak it a little. Longer license period, similar to drivers license. Lower fees, similar to driver's license. Lower penalties for carrying where prohibited, especially if accidental or unintentional.

I voted yes but have one reservation. Like Arizona, I would like to keep the CHL for those who travel in other states and have Constitutional Carry in Texas. I think that's what Arizona did.

This would also continue to allow the CHL holders to bypass the phone check when purchasing.

Arizona and Alaska both have CHL programs for the reasons you have stated. I don't know about Vermont, but one can't drive to many states without crossing New York and Massachusetts.

Don't try to share these poll results with the TSRA. I tried to express my desire to see constitutional carry as a TSRA member, and got lectured on how it's not realistic and nobody really supports it any way.

I posted it and I admit I don't take it too seriously. Although I don't believe I was being tongue in cheek, After all its a just a forum poll
But my intent was to see how strongly people in a very gun friendly environment feel about the RKBA. How willing are we to compromise on the principle.

To tell the truth I don't think most of us take any online polls seriously, but they can be interesting. I found this one interesting, and a bit informative. Most of all, it lead to some interesting discussion.

Agreeed! Alaska did the same thing when they eliminated the need for a license for concealed carry. Vermont has never had a licensing system, and Vermonters are out of luck everywhere else in the US as far as CCW is concerned. Getting a non-resident license from somewhere like Utah or Florida is of less utility because some states will not honor a non-resident license from any other state.

I never thought of that, and that affects the Federal exemption/exception (whatever) in the GFSZ thingy too.

I voted no because I agree with background check similar to when you buy the weapon. I also agree with the training required for CHL. I also like the statistics that are available for CHLs. The work that Charles Cotton did gives me a lot of ammunition when I argue with anti-gunners.
