Night Sight question...
Just purchased a Glock 19 and looking for recommendations on Night Sights. Looks like Trijicon is the most popular right now. Anyone know of any others they prefer? I'm assuming you would need a gunsmith to install them. Any reccomendations for someone in Southeast Houston area?
Re: Night Sight question...
i was looking at Glocks at Carter's Country on the west side of Houston and the guy there said their gunsmith does night sights on any handgun for $150, that's including the sights and labor. he didn't say what brand, but if there's a Carter's close to your area of town i'd give them a call and ask. everyone i talk to recommends Trijicon as well.

Re: Night Sight question...
We had Tru-Glo TFO put on our M&P's and I love them! Easy to see day or nite... makes finding it in the night stand. The sites were on sale for $50 and the gunsmith put them on for $35... very pleased with them. JMPHO.

I also have the Truglo TFO sights on my Glock 23 and love them. In my opinion, they are superior to the more standard night sights that came with my Kahr PM-40. Not only do they glow in the dark like any other night sight, but the fiber optic aspect really ups their visibility in daylight as well.

$79 for the Mepro's, $89 for the Trij and $85 for TruGlo sights (fixed), plus about $40 to a local smith for install...
IMO, Mepro's are easier to see (vs Trijicon's) in the daylight, Trij seems to have more colors available.
Not familiar with TruGlo
Get what you like... They're all good quality.

Re: Night Sight question...
My wife's G19 came with Trijicons installed. So did my M&P. All of my carry pistols have night sights, and I have to say that the Trijicon's are nice and bright. I used to own a USP Compact that came with white dot sights. I ordered some Meprolight sights for it, and they were very dim right out of the package. So I exchanged them for a set a Trijicons (same price from Midway USA) and was very satisfied.
My Kimber Ultra came with whatever proprietary night sights that Kimber uses, and they are very bright. It is worth noting that Kimber is the U.S. importer of Mepro sights, but they use a proprietary sight on their own guns.... or at least, they did until recently. I don't know if they continue to produce their own night sights or not.
There are other manufacturer's products that I would like to try out, just for the sake of experimentation, but I'm afraid that my experience with Meprolight sights pretty much turned me off to them. I would not likely ever buy another one of their products.

I like Trijicon.

Re: Night Sight question...
It's been so long since I got mine. I think they are Meprolights. They are green and larger dots than the Trijicons. Unless I've switched those two up. Whichever ones they are they are larger dots and they are still going after about 8 years.

Re: Night Sight question...
I have ameriglo ghost ring night sights on my G17. Its a standard tritium front sight with a ghost ring rear sight with tritium inserts. Ordered them online for around $100. They are awesome.

Re: Night Sight question...
I like the concept of the ghost ring on a shotgun, but I found the material of the ring on the rear sight of the pistol variety obstructs too much of my ability to view critical parts of what's in front of me.Vandelay Ind. wrote:I have ameriglo ghost ring night sights on my G17. YMMV

Re: Night Sight question...
Save the money you'd spend on night sights and buy 2 - 3 good, bright, tough LED lights. Learn how to use them.

Keep in mind that flashlights reveal your position as well as illuminating an adversary, and require a lot of practice to manipulate successfully while shooting accurately.
Night sights have neither of these issues.
