Curious Minds wanted to know

Post by Griffen »

OK, after all this time, I just had to find out who really was Kitty Genovese? :headscratch (Thanks AndyC )

While the events that occured that night happened while I was young, it still makes a compelling drama. I'm not sure why it hasn't been turned into a Hollywood blockbuster. While many actresses could play the role of Kitty, I can think of only a few actors that could pull off BG Mr. Moseley.

I learned about her when I was very young. The references listed at the end of the wiki are worth checking out. There's been moments in my life I've found myself thinking "don't be one of those others, do something!" And I did. I'm not saying jump into every fight, but sometimes you're put in a situation where someone really needs you. By not letting them down, you're lifting yourself up...

She is referenced in the movie "Boondock Saints" in the beginning, which is where I learned of it. The whole movie is designed around this theme and is a great flick... If you can get over all of the cussing. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. More blood, guts, and cursing than I care to shake a stick at.

Boondock Saints is one of my favorites and where I, too, learned the name Kitty Genovese. AndyC's reference to her made me want to watch the movie again every time he posted. Her story is one that definitely proves the "sheeple" theories many on this board have.

In a more upbeat, contemporary note I saw a story
on the TV News the other day from <Oregon? Washington
State?> where a woman was jogging as part of her NYR
to get in shape.

She was forced off the sidewalk under a large bridge by
a man with a knife who was going to do the obvious thing
you expect in such a situation.

She screamed and screamed, but didn't think anyone was
around to hear her. 3 men sentenced to litter pickup duty
for traffic violations heard her, jumped a fence, and captured
the BG before anything further happened. No one was cut
or stabbed. They held him until police arrived.

It turns out that the BG they captured was a sexual predator
from another state who had failed to register in his new state.

Kudos to these gentlemen for preventing another Kitty G.
incident.

Hollywood would have to admit that having a gun might have saved her.

I was in Jr. High when the murder happened, read about it at that time. Can still not believe that so many people just stood around, watched, did nothing.
