Sarah Palin: "America's Enduring Strength"
You may or may not be a fan of Sarah Palin, but this speech in response to the Arizona tragedy is worth a listen.

Listened to it earlier, very good.
I can't believe the actions of the sheriff, the media and the democrats in the aftermath of this tragedy. I can't comprehend their whole thought process on this issue.
To blame Glenn Beck, Rush, Sarah Palin and others is just reprehensible and is so obvious its for politicle gain. The sad thing is so many people soak the network news up as if it were the gospal.

A government which robs Peter to pay Paul, can always depend on the support of Paul.
Re: Sarah Palin: "America's Enduring Strength"
For some reason, I want to find a reason not to like her... I'm failing so far.
Although I don't agree with her on all the issues, her comportment has earned my respect.
Even her TV show has been pretty good family fare.
A worthwhile statement from her. Even more commendable was her initial statement, followed by a deep breath of several days before commenting further here.

Re: Sarah Palin: "America's Enduring Strength"
The reverse is also true. The people who have decried Palin and Beck have had the effect of making them even more popular. It appears that both the GOP and the Dems, in their attempts to capitalize on this terrible tragedy, have over estimated the American public's tolerance for it. There seems to be a strong movement now to get the Pima Country sheriff removed from office.Grammy wrote:Listened to it earlier, very good.

I smile at the constant attacks on Sarah Palin. What is she? She nothing but an ex-Governor and an ex-Vice Presidential candidate. Geraldine Ferraro is also an woman ex-Vice Presidential candidate and she appears almost no where except Fox News. Palin's opponents are the ones responsible for making her larger the life.
The linked video is now password protected. I had to read the text to understand what was in her remarks. I have serious reservations about her political prospects but the words in this text, along with the words that she uses in almost all circumstances, ring true to me. Apparently, I'm not alone.

Re: Sarah Palin: "America's Enduring Strength"
I can find nothing in what she said to argue about. It is the viewpoint of a politically mature American citizen.... ....which highlights all too well the sociopolitical immaturity of those that blame the Arizona shootings on heated rhetoric from the right.

Re: Sarah Palin: "America's Enduring Strength"
I'm no fan of Sarah Palin. And I realize that it is her speechwriter, and not her, who deserves most of the credit for this speech. But she delivered it well and it set exactly the right tone.
I particular enjoyed these two lines, one directly attributed to Ronald Reagan:

And the other, I can only assume, the words of her speechwriter:We must reject the idea that every time a law is broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker

The origins of Jared Loughner’s delusions are clear: mental illness. What are the origins of Paul Krugman’s?

Massacre, Followed by Libel
The origins of Jared Loughner’s delusions are clear: mental illness. What are the origins of Paul Krugman’s?
This is an excellent article. It is very much worth noting that Charles Krauthammer was a licensed and practicing psychiatrist before he ever became a journalist. I think he is eminently better qualified to diagnose the motivations of a psychopath than is a "journalist" who is not only out of touch with reality, but is a deliberate liar. The charge: The Tucson massacre is a consequence of the “climate of hate” created by Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, Glenn Beck, Obamacare opponents, and sundry other liberal bêtes noires.
The verdict: Rarely in American political discourse has there been a charge so reckless, so scurrilous, and so unsupported by evidence.
Krauthammer is referencing THIS ARTICLE by Paul Krugman in the New York Times in which he said:
As both the Commentary Magazine and Powerline blogs point out, the comment that Bachman made is taken entirely out of context by Krugman in order to advance his twisted interpretation, which is in complete denial of reality. Per Commentary Magazine:Where’s that toxic rhetoric coming from? Let’s not make a false pretense of balance: it’s coming, overwhelmingly, from the right. It’s hard to imagine a Democratic member of Congress urging constituents to be “armed and dangerous” without being ostracized; but Representative Michele Bachmann, who did just that, is a rising star in the G.O.P.
Krugman isn't just wrong. If he were, I would say, "oh well, he's an idiot." But he is more than that. He is deliberately dishonest. He lies deliberately. That makes him deliberately evil. And he is one of the most admired voices and consciences of the left.As John Hinderacker at Power Line shows, complete with a recording of the entire interview, Michelle Bachmann was merely using a metaphor. She was holding a town hall meeting with constituents regarding the cap-and-trade bill and said, “I’m going to have materials for people when they leave. I want people armed and dangerous on this issue of the energy tax, because we need to fight back.” She was arming them with information, not bullets, so they could successfully oppose a terrible bill, not shoot politicians.
That is one of the most starkly illustrative instances I've ever seen about why the left can NEVER be trusted with the Constitution. Not ever.
Here's further reason:
For the Left, There Are No Sacred Texts
by Dennis Prager
TownHall.com
A number of well-known spokesmen on the left have voiced reservations not only about the Republican decision to have members of Congress -- both Republicans and Democrats -- read the Constitution aloud at the opening of the latest session of Congress. They have also voiced reservations about the American veneration of the Constitution.
{snip}
...That is why we must to treat the Constitution as sacred text. Because the bottom line is this: If it is not regarded as sacred, it is nothing more than what anyone believes about any social issue. Which is precisely what the left wants it to be -- providing, of course, that the "anyone" is a liberal.
For the left, there are no sacred texts. There are only sacred (liberal) feelings.

I enjoyed her speech after the lady had had a week of incoming.
I think it could be as simple as Elite Ruling Class versus Country Class , Sarah Palin is popular with the Country class hence the constant attacks on her from not only the left but also Republicans such as Christie, the popular talking head , Charles Krauthammer and other inside the Beltway types..!

One can also possibly find an answer for the vitriol against Gov. Palin in Saul Alinkys, Rules for Radicals, rule #11
Rule 11: Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, polarize it. Don’t try to attack abstract corporations or bureaucracies. Identify a responsible individual. Ignore attempts to shift or spread the blame.
