At least she wasn't so drunk that she got a ride in a cop car... and then proceeded to shoot up that vehicle... oh wait, that's reserved for the intelligent DPD officers.

I'm not real clear on what your problem was with the student in question, but you do realize that if you have a competence problem with a student, you can always write a letter to DPS identifying the student, and the problem. You can't fail them if they meet the requirements, but DPS should be notified if you think there is a problem.

My thoughts as well.Oldgringo wrote:... I wonder who she was trying to impress?
I saw the last half of this story on the news broadcast that night, it was enough to stop me in my tracks with mouth agape.

CHL is one of those things that you either get or you dont.
Look at driving for a parallel. You have to have class time, test time, and range (driving) time.
Your instructor is there to guide you during that time. After that its up to you to have some friggin sense.
Yet many after being released on the world develop some sort of amnesia. I dont understand it.
I think it approaches a mindset that some harbor of "ill just say/do what I have to in order to get my license (any license). After that im doing things MY way"
Watching rush hour traffic seems to support my theory.

Stories I've heard about some CHL instructors make me wonder how THEY passed the course.LongHairedRedneck wrote:Some people just make me wonder how they passed the CHL course
Take people who can[t teach and people who can't be taught, you'll see there are lots of idjits with CHLs out there. And still they don't run around killin folks. So why do we need 10 hours of training?
Re: Drunk CHL on the news in a BAR showing her license
She needed some more training in the law. Every CHL has a responsibility to the rest. Every time one screws up, it goes in the stats down in Austin and gets used for ammo to stop pro-gun legislation, etc. to make all of us look bad. We have a lot at stake here.

There are people in Austin that work in the capital who are taking CHL courses so they can get in the shot CHL line. When interviewed, a lot of them admitted they don't carry, some did not even own a gun.Bullwhip wrote:Stories I've heard about some CHL instructors make me wonder how THEY passed the course.LongHairedRedneck wrote:Some people just make me wonder how they passed the CHL course

I was going to carry into the capitol building, but getting in the shot CHL line sounds dangerous.SecedeTX wrote:There are people in Austin that work in the capital who are taking CHL courses so they can get in the shot CHL line. Re: Drunk CHL on the news in a BAR showing her license
I have wondered what they are teaching sometimes myself. How many newbies come on here asking "Can I carry past this sign?" or "Can I carry in such and such place?"? Glad to help straighten them out but these type questions should be clear before they ever leave class.Bullwhip wrote:Stories I've heard about some CHL instructors make me wonder how THEY passed the course.LongHairedRedneck wrote:Some people just make me wonder how they passed the CHL course
