Now most kids in the city can't work anywhere until 16. I think that is a real loss for them.
If I knew farm work counted, since I was raised on a farm............planting tobacco by hand, topping the suckers when they bloomed, cutting and hauling to the drying barn, and stripping when it came in case. And bailing hay and stacking it in the barn (square bales, not the round ones they do now), all this from as soon as I was big enough to do my part. Plus, we always had a big garden, all our veggies come from there, not from a store.

Ooh-rah! I have heard of that job, I think they give rides to Marines on their boats.
I thought they put Marines on the boats to give the sailors someone to dance with........
