One of the Happiest Days of My Married Life

Post by doc540 »

Today marks the first time in 11 (count'em: ELEVEN) years I've been able to park my car in our garage.

I rented a storage place for the '65 Mustang, cleared out a lot of useless crap from the garage and docked the Dinan into its cozy little slip.

And there's actually plenty of room left.

Now I don't have to worry about guns or band gear left outside overnight.

Oh, HAPPY DAY! :anamatedbanana

I am happy for you! I know what a huge deal this can be - I may never be able to park in the garage - too much show gear for animals, animal feed, gardening stuff, tools, my old doll house, and general "stuff" Some day it will be much more organized, but until we get a barn with a feed/tack storage area I am not seeing parking in the garage as an option.

Congratualtions!

I'm green with envy. I was there once then it went away. We're close again. We don't need to get rid of that much, but it's going to take a little coaxing to get her to part with some of that junk. Hopefully, by the end of the month we'll be able to get the car back in the garage after two years.

In fear of "large, damaging hail", we stuffed Mrs. Oldgringo's Expedition and my 4x4 Dodge 2500 Ram in the garage Tuesday night. Today, we pried them apart.

The moral of this story is that every now and then, the garage needs to be cleaned out. Just do it!

Oh, I hear ya, brother.

To avoid hail I've parked so close to the side of the garage I've had to exit out the other side door, and covered the top with furniture pads!

Having my car in the garage now is a big deal. :thewave

My dream is to have nothing in my garage except our two cars. :cryin

Oh well, the wife gets to park inside. The other side is all my junk that I can't live without.

Nice job Doc :thumbs2:

Lord I hope my wife doesn't see that picture!

But I don't think we could get both our vehicles in our "two car" garage if it was empty. Well, not and be able to get out of them. I swear they should paint "Compact Car Only" in front of the garage door.

The previous owners of my house had converted the 2 car garage to a rumpus room, so we had no protection from hail for the cars when we first bought the house. Not long after we moved in, I had a really nice craftsman style "patio cover" built out of cedar that covers the parking apron outside of what used to be our garage. We can fit 3 cars underneath it, as long as they aren't full sized SUVs or trucks. We can get my wife's Camry, my Pathfinder, and my son's G8 underneath it.

My truck doesn't fit in our garage, so I took half of it over as stoarge. Her FX fits fine in the other half. I was parking the ESV she had in there....that was a tight tight fit....glad she traded that beast in!

I'm in the same boat. When I get a new car (every 5-7 years) I will clean out room to park it in the garage. Usually lasts about 6 months to a year before the garage is reclaimed by the "stuff" and my car is sent out to sleep in the cold.
