I am looking for a Wilson Combat full size 1911 and would prefer to buy FTF to avoid shipping and FFL charges. I am located in east Texas between Houston and Dallas but close to Shreveport.
Thanks!

FYI, if you are not lucky enough to find someone that is willing to part with one, consider the fees. Not all FFL's charge a percentage of what the firearm is worth. If you order from someplace like Buds they ship for free. Johnson's Arms only charges 25 bucks for transfers, so I would think 25 bucks would be cheaper than driving to Houston or Dallas. Just a thought.

Re: WTB: Wilson Combat Handgun
There are actually quite a few Wilson's for sale but none that I have found within driving distance, so I have resigned myself to the fact that I will have to pay shipping and fees.

Re: WTB: Wilson Combat Handgun
Are you only wanting used, or is new ok?
Several dealers in Dallas area have new ones in stock. Jackson Armory is IIRC, Wilson's largest dealer; after seeing their selection, I'd believe it. Bullet Trap in Plano and most recently Cheaper than Dirt in McKinney have some as well.
ETA: Cabela's in Fort Worth usually has a few Wilsons, both new and used.

I would almost guarantee that Collector's Fireamrs in Houston, TX has some Wilson 1911's in stock. Is there a specific model or set of features you are looking for. If not then Collectors has TONS of high end 1911's usually from Wilson, Nighthawk, Les Bear, and Dan Wesson. Good luck and happy hunting.

High end 1911s at both Collectors and Jackson are WAY overpriced. But if you want to pay +MSRP and tax they do have some nice stock.

For the OP, I don't agree w/ Carrots assessment of Jacksons and consider their prices to be fair; far from being WAY overpriced, but then I don't shop at Vikon Village either.Carrots wrote:High end 1911s at both Collectors and Jackson are WAY overpriced. They do have a website that may give some insight, but I usually just go and enjoy the place.

Re: WTB: Wilson Combat Handgun
I am still researching Wilson models but would like to find a used gun to save a little off MSRP. I won't be buying any gun from a Texas dealer as I have an aversion to paying sales tax on guns. As I originally said, I would like to buy FTF and avoid shipping/transfer fees, but if I can't find what I want locally, I have found several decent deals around the 'net.
