Silly Shotgun Question

...that sound like no other has both locked 'em up and kicked 'em into high gear in my experience catchin' BGs...it's burned the soles outa many a pair of Converse AllStars!!! I've read 6-page threads ridiculing the power of the noise of a shotgun shuckin'...and, NO, I wouldn't count on the results...but I've seen it work like Keith B says many a dark night...

Unloading couple rounds has higher effect too
Same when you hear the little sound of .50 BMG.

...kinda depends on whether you shuck 'em or shoot 'em.....

...haven't had the pleasure of hearing a 50...but my sons got to shoot 'em in the Army...

...back to shotguns...I like the accuracy of the slug, and the spread at longer range with not quite as much power as a rifle when using buckshot...it gives you choices...

Other than the sound, one thing I like about the pump shotgun is that it gives you just a little bit of time to think about what you're doing. Especially in hunting. I find that I go through much less ammo when hunting with a pump than a semi. With a semi, I almost always take a second shot because it's so quick. And majority of time the second shot is a miss anyway.

I have a pump for my HD shotgun because my dad bought it for me when I was around 12 or 13. Just like my handgun, I'm not leaving my shotgun sitting around without a round in the chamber, so there will be no intimidating sound of racking a round in. The only sound my shotgun will make before I fire it will be the safety clicking off. When seconds count, I dont want to have to worry about racking the pump.

I had an instructor friend of mine refer to the pump mechanism on a shotgun as the "mechanical calming device". With a semi-automatic, and a load of adrenaline, it's too easy to pull the trigger and fire off more rounds than you want/need to. A pump gun doesn't completely stop this syndrome, but it does require a more conscious effort to reload and fire again if needed. At the time he told me this I thought it was funny (both odd and humorous). I understand what he meant now......

semi autos cost way more. i prefer aemi autos

and if I ever have the spare change I'll have me a Benelli M4 or M1014.
