Resaturants Banning E-Cigs

I'm not familiar with e-cigs. I smoked a pipe for almost 40 years and a pipe gives off a most pleasant aroma. Cigarettes, real cigarettes, give a most noxious fume that can be smelled miles away.

Yep, that's my opinion on the subject...as if anyone asked.

I never realized just how bad they smell until I quit & went to e-cigs. Now I can tell when someone in the car 100 yards ahead of me on the highway is smoking. Yes, they stink!

1) Restaurant has the right to ban anything that isn't a 'right' and more power to them
2) Customer has the right to not frequent places that don't fit their lifestyle

Is there anything significant here? Seriously, why the 'panties in a wad' about this? So they don't allow e-cigs. That's their right as an establishment. Move on.

Taking all this action may make you feel better, but I would imagine there are a lot more important battles to fight out there than e-cigs and a certain restaurant chain with mediocre food.

I am not fighting any battles here. I am just trying to have an interesting discussion of topics that are on people's minds.

Hopefully others find out about Olive Gardens stance on E-Cigs and decide to spend their money elsewhere. That way the wait time for the wife and I to get our Chicken & Gnocchi soup is shorter. Three bowl minimum everytime I go.

Gee whiz, just an "off topic" post. I know it's their right and I have the right not to eat there which is what I said. It's no big deal, there's a zillion restaurants in the DFW metoplex and I don't normally eat there anyway. It was just convenient. There's lots of posts in the "off topic" section that are just rants and raves. Thought the section was for someone on our mind. I'm just posting on some of the forums and it's really interesting to see some of the responses. A couple of emails and postings don't consitutue "taking all this action" to me. It is all the time I will waste on this issue though because I'm done, won't eat there and that's the end.

Now I'll continue my fight with Time Warner cable.

While walking through the Galleria the other day, I saw a few chicks sporting the e-ciggs and smoking away as fast as they could. I think they were selling them too.

I don't care what it is, I can still smell it. It doesn't smell like tobacco but it's just as annoying.

It's no worse than a restaurant not allowing open carried shotguns. If it you don't like the policy, you can go somewhere else. At least the OP's friend didn't have the cops called on her.

Not really. I think the aroma of a pipe smells better than it tastes. Same for good cigars. Not true for bacon.

Yep, I think coffee smells better than it tastes, pipes smell better than they taste (I once took a drag from my grandpa's pipe). I also detest cigarette and cigar smoke. I agree that it's NOT true for bacon!!!!!

My dad used to HATE the smell of anything cooking in the kitchen, even bacon. He'd snare his nose up and turn on the vent and fans. Really strange but each to their own.
